I haven't tested these, but they're listed as compatible.

Jeep and CarPlay: does your Jeep already have it?

Many Jeeps with a Uconnect touchscreen support Apple CarPlay from the factory, but not all of them, and older Jeeps with basic radios do not. Before buying anything, check your model year, trim and Uconnect version. If your screen shows a CarPlay icon when a phone is connected by USB, you already have it and don't need a new head unit.

Do Jeeps have wireless CarPlay?

Some newer Uconnect units support wireless CarPlay, while many earlier Uconnect radios are wired-only. Which one you have depends on the model year and trim, so check the model year and your radio settings rather than assuming. If your Jeep has wired CarPlay only, a plug-in wireless adapter is the lighter option; if it has no CarPlay at all, a vehicle-specific head unit is the usual route.

Jeep Wrangler CarPlay Upgrade

For a Wrangler without factory CarPlay, a vehicle-specific Android head unit adds CarPlay / Android Auto (wired or wireless, depending on the listing). The JK (2007–2018) and JL (2018+) use different dashes and harnesses, so pick the listing for your generation. The JK units above are catalog listings, not filmed installs—confirm year, trim and factory audio with the seller.

Adding CarPlay on other Jeep models

Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, Compass, Renegade, Liberty, Commander and Patriot listings are under “More head units” above. They are not reviewed by me, and fitment varies by year and factory radio, so treat them as a starting point and confirm with the seller.

Jeep CarPlay FAQ

Do Jeeps have wireless CarPlay?

Some do. Some newer Uconnect units (for example Uconnect 5 on certain recent models) support wireless CarPlay, while many earlier Uconnect touchscreens only support wired CarPlay over USB. It depends on the model year, trim and which Uconnect radio your Jeep has—check the model year and your owner's manual or the radio's phone settings.

Can I add CarPlay on a Jeep that doesn't have it?

Usually, yes. Older Jeeps without a CarPlay-capable Uconnect radio can take a vehicle-specific aftermarket head unit that lists CarPlay / Android Auto. Buy the kit for your exact model and generation.

How do Jeep and CarPlay work together if my radio already supports it?

If your Uconnect screen already supports wired CarPlay, plug your iPhone into the data USB port and enable CarPlay on the phone. A plug-in wireless adapter may add wireless use to a wired CarPlay system—verify compatibility with the adapter seller first.

Does a Jeep Wrangler support wireless CarPlay after a head-unit swap?

Yes when you install a vehicle-specific Android unit that lists wireless CarPlay. JK and JL dashes differ—buy the kit for your generation.

JK vs JL—does it matter for a Jeep Wrangler CarPlay upgrade?

Yes. JK (2007–2018) and JL (2018+) use different dashes and harnesses. Listed Wrangler kits on this hub are generation-specific—confirm yours before ordering.

Have you filmed a Jeep install?

Not yet. For a real install walkthrough on a similar DIY job, see a filmed Honda or Toyota finder page.

Will I keep steering-wheel controls?

Usually with the correct Jeep CANbus / SWC harness. Confirm with the seller using your year and radio photo.
