Mercedes-Benz CarPlay upgrades

Filmed Mercedes-Benz coverage here is the E-Class W212 with NTG 4.5—the Dasaita-style Android / CarPlay upgrade I installed and filmed. That generation is not a simple double-DIN swap: fiber / MOST audio, steering controls, and reverse-camera planning all matter. Start with the filmed E-Class card below if your car matches. Other Mercedes catalog rows are untested listings only.

What I filmed on the W212 E-Class

The on-camera job covers removing the factory COMAND unit, dealing with the vehicle-specific harness path for NTG 4.5, and bringing up wireless CarPlay / Android Auto on the aftermarket unit. Watch the linked guide for the parts order and the mistakes that are easy to make on fiber cars. I am not claiming every W212 trim is identical—confirm your NTG version before you buy.

What to look for in a Mercedes head unit

Match the kit to your NTG / COMAND generation, not just “E-Class.” Ask about MOST fiber loops, microphone, steering-wheel controls, and whether the reverse camera stays plug-and-play. Cheap universal units often break audio or throw errors on these cars. Prefer listings that name W212 and NTG 4.5 (or your exact stack) in the title or description.

Fiber, camera, and coding notes

Mercedes fiber audio means a wrong harness can equal silence. Budget time to verify speakers after first boot. Camera adapters and steering controls vary by option package. I do not invent coding procedures beyond what the filmed guide shows—if your car needs star diagnostics or extra modules, confirm with the seller or a Mercedes specialist.

C-Class, GLC, and other catalog rows under More head units are not filmed. Use them only as starting points for listed brands and buy links, then verify fitment yourself. For a real install walkthrough, stay on the W212 filmed card.

Mercedes-Benz CarPlay FAQ

Can I add wireless CarPlay to a W212 E-Class?

Yes with a vehicle-specific Android unit aimed at NTG 4.5. Follow the filmed E-Class guide for the parts and caveats I hit on camera.

Will a cheap universal unit work?

Mercedes fiber audio and steering controls are easy to get wrong. Prefer a kit that lists your NTG version explicitly.

Do you cover C-Class or GLC?

Not on filmed pages yet—any other Mercedes rows in the catalog are untested listings.

What is NTG 4.5 and why does it matter?

NTG is Mercedes’ COMAND generation. Harnesses and screen kits are generation-specific; a kit for a different NTG may not fit or may lose audio/controls.

Amazon or dealer store first?

On filmed and catalog pages, Amazon is listed first when a matching tagged URL exists; otherwise Dasaita / iDoing / eBay as available on the listing.
