Assemble the labeled perimeter and crossbars (12mm + Allen), then clamp the platform onto the Rivian cargo crossbars with the long threaded hardware. Two people recommended. This 7 min guide covers the Rivian R1T / R1S 2021+ with tools, parts links and the full video.

Overview

A Rivian-specific basket-style platform that bolts to the factory cargo crossbars — no drilling. John mounts it in the common crossbar position so overhang stays balanced. Fitment matches the Rivian's industrial lines; it's heavy and the long threads take time, but it's very secure.

Tools & parts

Tools

  • Included wrench
  • 12mm hardware / Allen keys (included)
  • Second person for assembly

Parts

  • Roof platform rails (labeled)
  • Crossbars 1–6 (labeled)
  • Mounting clamps, washers, nuts
  • Rivian cargo crossbars (sold separately)

Step by step

  1. 1

Assemble the platform on the ground▶ 1:48

Bars and perimeter pieces are labeled 1–6. Note which face points up. Install one side's bars first, then sandwich the other rail — much easier with two people.

Tip: 12mm hardware on the sides; Allen fasteners underneath.

  2. 2

Set the Rivian crossbar position▶ 3:22

John used the most common factory crossbar latch position so the platform doesn't overhang too far aft.

  3. 3

    Clamp to the crossbars▶ 3:50

Each clamp wraps the Rivian crossbar with a flat plate, washer and nut. The threads are long (more security, more time). Eyeball alignment with the other side.

  4. 4

    Check balance and torque▶ 4:22

If you shift one mount back, adjust the other so the platform stays balanced. Confirm everything is tight before highway speeds.

0:09What's up guys, it's your boy John. We have the Rivian R1S and we just need the little roof rack

0:15It's like kind of like a basket without like the edges. We got something from EV base that way we can put our

0:22We can tie more things down. This is the product right here. Oh, okay each of what it is. And it comes in a really

0:32Kind of see it compared to the Rivian right here. It's a pretty big box

0:38Now we have hardware in one box

0:40we have

0:43Kind of like a 90 degree elbow

0:46And none 90 degree 99 degree 99 degree everything's packaged super solid

0:51The hard wear it uses

0:56Look at this. Does it really come with its own little wrench

1:04What the heck I've never seen it so

1:07It has its own little

1:12Box right here

1:14and then you have

1:16the crossbars and then

1:19then this is like

1:22The big piece right here the metal

1:24And let me just pull it down for you. So there's like these little mounting holes

1:32It's pretty self-explanatory for the install you just make a giant oval and then you put the crossbars in it

1:39There's just little holes to be self-explanatory. I'm gonna have it put together first and then I'm gonna show you guys how we

1:46Put it together

1:48Alright, so we have the EV base set up

1:50Let me go over the insulation and kind of go over it with you each of them

1:55We're gonna be labeled each

1:55bars, Bars and label 1 2 3 4 5 6 and it's gonna have its own label around the outer perimeter as well

2:03And you can kind of see this is what faces up on ours right here

2:08So it kind of goes you can see that pattern right there

2:12Dish is sweet

2:14Yeah, you just hooked up the 12 mils over here on each side you kind of put them in and on the bottom you're gonna see

2:23Some Allen keys, that's it

2:25Nothing too crazy

2:27Once you put them in

2:28The tricky part is kind of do one sides first so do this side put all the bars in

2:35Then you kind a sandwich it

2:37I would definitely say have two people help you with this or like have two people doing this

3:11You just put it like this and then you have

3:17the screw it on to it like so

3:22And that's it. You just have it on the crossbars

3:26We're gonna try it on this default position right now the Rivian R1 S has a another spot

3:32You can put the I can't see it from here, but another spot maybe you guys can see it

3:38Or you can latch on the thing, but I think this is the most

3:43Common spot people put their crossbars, so we're gonna try to go for that first and we'll port back to you how it looks

3:50Alright, so we got the little I mean kind of talked about it. This just goes over the crossbar

3:57Then you have the flat piece go against

4:01The thing right here

4:03Kind of want to lie it. It up with how we have it over there

4:07Eyeball it

4:11Washer and then nut

4:18Alright, so we have the R1 S

4:22Roof rack my EV base and man, it is sturdy

4:28It I made latches on right here these, these threads. There's so many threads

4:33It's a pain in the butt to kind of like screw them on but I know more threads equal to safer

4:38So for safety reasons

4:41It's there. It just kind of

4:43takes a while to mount and

4:46Of course you can mount them into different sections

4:49This is what kind of looks

4:51Right for us because if we move one back

4:55it would

4:57This would have too much overhang

5:00If you if that makes sense, I imagine this to be one more step back then you would have to use this

5:06So that means that we would have to move this one over here

5:10To kind of latch it on to this one and I think this is like the way you're supposed to do it

5:15Because then now if you move everything back it might there's less

5:21balance

5:23But yeah, whoo

5:25EV base

5:26looking good

5:29Let me get this the car this truck or R1 s outside you can kind of see it in the Sun

5:46Alright, so we have the R1 s with the EV bases

5:51roof rack

5:52rack thing

5:54But yeah, it's looking good. It's super solid. It's on there good

5:57You can tie it even more but it ain't going nowhere

6:01It looks beautiful in the car. It really complements the lines of the

6:05Kind of like that industrial look which I really appreciate and the fitment

6:10Everything looks proper. It doesn't look like it doesn't belong even but each of the rails like look at that

6:17The way it sits on the thing. It perfectly matches the crossbar on the Rivian and it just everything just flows

6:24Well, it's made specifically for the R1 s and not like a universal

6:29Peace

6:30But yeah, if you guys were interested in this product use my code

6:34John you'll get some you get kicked back and it helps me out

6:38but uh, yeah

6:41Not a lot of information about this product, so I wanted to show you guys something cool

6:45Thank you for watching. I'll catch you guys in the next one. Peace
