Yes — you can install This kit on the Walkaround of John's 1995 NSX; parts mentioned were on this car when he bought it with a 15 min DIY job. John walks around the 1995 NSX he just bought: Pride V2 exhaust, OEM front lip, aftermarket white-face gauges, a temporary tablet-style Android head unit, the trunk, CD changer, targa top.

Overview

After a Civic and an S2000, John finally bought the car he always wanted: a 1995 Acura NSX. Two weeks into ownership, he gives a full walkaround. Outside it's mostly stock, with an OEM Honda/Acura front lip, 17-inch wheels in back with a slight dish, Works lug nuts that have faded from red to pink, the long taillights that remind him of playing Gran Turismo as a kid, and a Pride V2 exhaust with crossover piping and an exotic tone. Inside: power seats, the huge steering-column pods for lights, pop-ups, defrost, cruise and hazards, and a cramped footwell for a 5'10" driver. The aftermarket white-face gauges have a sticky tach needle from a previous swap, which he plans to fix. The climate control was out for repair (the capacitors are known to leak), and the cassette player was replaced for now by a tablet-style Android head unit with CarPlay and Android Auto. He says it sounds much better than stock and is easy to reverse. A double-DIN trim is on the way, and used ones cost around $800 to $1,000. He also shows the SOS Type S/Zanardi style shift knob, the immobilizer alarm, the shrunken glovebox on airbag cars, the shallow trunk that gets hot over the exhaust, a CD changer, the targa top and the pop-up headlights with HIDs from a previous owner. Future plans could include a new front lip, side skirts and wheels, but radios are what he's most comfortable doing.

    Parts

    • Pride V2 exhaust
    • OEM Honda/Acura front lip
    • Works lug nuts
    • Aftermarket white-face gauge cluster (from a previous owner)
    • SOS Type S / Zanardi style shift knob
    • Tablet-style Android head unit with CarPlay and Android Auto (temporary)
    • HID headlight kit (from a previous owner)

    Step by step

    1. 1

      The dream car▶ 0:30

After a Civic and an S2000, John had the chance to buy an NSX and took it. He wants Android head unit integration because that's what his channel covers.

    2. 2

      Front end and wheels▶ 1:20

Almost everything up front is stock, with an OEM Honda/Acura front lip. The 17-inch rear wheels have a slight dish. The Works lug nuts have faded from red to pink.

    3. 3

      Intakes▶ 2:12

One side vent cools the engine and the other side feeds the intake.

    4. 4

      Taillights and Pride V2 exhaust▶ 2:52

The taillights remind him of Gran Turismo. The Pride V2 exhaust has crossover piping that looks like art and an exotic tone.

    5. 5

      Interior▶ 3:49

Power seats, big steering-column pods for the lights, pop-ups, defrost, cruise control and hazards. At 5'10" John's feet are cramped: the dead pedal touches the clutch.

    6. 6

      Aftermarket gauges▶ 5:13

The white-face gauges came from a previous owner. The tach needle sticks sometimes because of the swap, so he plans to fix it.

    7. 7

Climate control and the temporary head unit▶ 5:51

The climate control was sent out for repair. The cassette player was swapped for a tablet-style Android head unit with CarPlay and Android Auto. It sounds much better, but it's an experiment until the double-DIN trim arrives.

    8. 8

Trim cost and the shift knob▶ 7:16

Used double-DIN trim pieces run about $800 or more. The shift knob is a heavy SOS Type S / Zanardi style knob. The car also has an immobilizer alarm.

    9. 9

      Glovebox▶ 8:14

Later cars got a passenger airbag, which is why the glovebox shrank compared to the 1991 car.

    10. 10

      Trunk and CD changer▶ 8:59

The mid-engine NSX has a sizable but shallow trunk that gets hot because the exhaust is underneath. There's even a CD changer back there.

    11. 11

Engine glass and targa top▶ 10:18

A lever opens the engine glass, and the targa top comes off.

    12. 12

      Pop-up headlights▶ 12:13

The pop-ups have HIDs from a previous owner. The wiring is messy, so he may redo it with LED or a different HID kit.

    13. 13

      What's next▶ 13:21

Maybe a new front lip, side skirts and wheels. Reversible radio upgrades are what he's most comfortable with. He's already done the cabin and engine air filters, polishing and struts.

0:00Guys, it's your boy John, and I just wanna show my new ride.

0:22I just picked as a child, it was one of those goals of mine.

0:29I had the Honda Civic and then I had the Honda S2000, always one in NSX.

0:30Honda Civic, and then I had the Honda S2000.

    0:33I always wanted an NSX.

0:34I had opportunity to buy one.

0:36So I swooped up and got the dream.

    0:38Now, 1995 with, what's great about 1995, I'm

    0:44that

1:00I do a lot of Android head unit videos so I want that kind of integration so

1:04so what I can do see what my work

1:14look in fire right now so I did polish it but here in California there's a lot of fire

1:20so it gets actually quick the front end is everything is pretty much stock

1:25The front front lip is an OEM front lip from Honda or Acura. You. You have pop-

1:33and some people are like don't don't go to the new refresh model back in

1:3902 is when they they did a fixed headlights but I really like the pop-up so I'm keeping them.

1:44The wheels are CR Kais works.

1:49They look great, 17s in the front, 18s in the rears..

1:53So with the NSX you have a stagger set up so you have 17-inch wheels in the front

1:57and 18s in the the back.

    2:02Do I like the look?

2:03That's just what kind of suits the NSX.

2:05I usually like that concave look.

2:07So that'll do for now before I change it up or anything.

2:12And you have the intake right here both sides.

2:16So this one just kind of cools the engine and the other side.

2:18The other side is where the intake is which is sweet.

2:22Again here's the rear wheels. I really like the rear wheels better

2:25because it has that kind of dish look it's not flat.

2:29emen have works lug nuts they're anodized red but now they're pink because it's

2:33an older car so the little plug right there.

    2:39Let's move into the back.

2:41So growing up I really liked playing video games like Gran Turismo and Need for Speed.

2:47And Gran Turismo on the PS2.

2:50I saw these taillights and I'm like man that's distinctive.

2:53So looking at these taillights right here just reminds me of playing Gran Turismo back

2:58when. I was a kid I love it and we have an exhaust.

3:04I actually picked up this exhaust it's called the Pride V2.

3:07It's actually a really nice piece of art if you can get down there and look under.

3:12You can see all the piping it like crosses over.

3:16There's a bunch of like crazy exotic looking things.

3:19It has a really nice tone kind of exotic sounds like weight.

3:23It sounds way better than my S2000 did.

3:27A lot of people like to change this rear piece to the O2 style.

    3:30It gives that lower appearance.

3:32I'm not sure if I'm going to do that but again my goal is to kind of keep everything stock.

3:36But yeah that's kind of the exterior.

3:41You also have tint and all that so the interior.

3:46So for designing the 80s this has power seats.

3:52I mean this car the, first mall year was 1991 for the U.S.

3:55But it was designed in the 80s late 80s.

3:58Check that out got power seats.

4:00seats you got, you got this nice steering

4:12has these huge like almost I don't know it's just crazy but it has your lights

4:19which activates the pop-ups, and then has defroster, cruise control, and then your hazards are in this huge bulbous area,

    4:27It's nuts

    4:29Alright, so yeah!

4:31And then these air vents are really nice because your-

4:33Your AC climate control is usually like right here

4:35But because the car is so small in the interior

    4:39Man, look at my feet

    4:41I wear size 9's

    4:43And the dead-pedal

    4:45Is literally hitting the clutch

    4:47And it's a cramp

    4:49I'm 5'10''

4:51I'm really crammed in this interior

    4:53But any bigger

4:55six one or something I'll be I'll make my knees would be like this but yeah doors

5:02are really cool everything is kind of ergonomic the window switches are faced

5:06towards you your mirrors are powered and they use your trunk the gas and if you

5:13see this cluster if you want to come on in this cluster right here is a after

5:16market it's white faces and the previous owner said the previous owner of

5:21before him had these white faces and the RPN needle the needle because when you're

5:28swapping these needles out they get stuck over time it it's it sometimes misses

5:33the springs and all that jazz so that is broken it gets stuck sometimes

5:38it destucks and then it works but it's very unreliable right now because of

5:42that swap unfortunately that's what I had to deal with doesn't bother me too

5:47much but something I am planning to fix and when I got the car too

5:51It had the cassette player and AC, AC climate control sent

5:55Sent it, sent the climate control to get repaired and of course because I'm the.

5:59Android head unit, I just kind of did for fun this head unit right here.

6:03This head unit came off of, it had the trim pieces around it and I disassembled it

6:08and I just kind of stuck it in here to see how it looks.

6:11Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, audio sounds way better.

6:14But this is not permanent. This is not permanent. This is

6:17kind of like what like just me kind of experimenting with what I have before I

6:21get the double dintrim which is on the way to have this these double dintrim

6:26pieces they come they go to like a thousand dollars so it gets pretty

6:29expensive any NSX tax is pretty high on this one wide-wave mirror this is like

6:30Any NSX tax is pretty high on this one.

    6:34Wide wave mirror.

6:34this is like a con like just you can see more rear and uh it's nice it came with the car.

6:41And then with the 92's that were then the 91's they don't they can open like this

6:46but the 95's or 93's I believe opens up like this.

6:50I have the mask and all that stuff.

6:53But uh yeah if you come along I can show you the infotainment because

    6:57that's kind of interesting.

6:58So it shows that this boots up right here.

    7:01Which is really nice.

7:03It says Honda because this was meant for a Honda fit.

7:05This head unit but retro fitted here.

7:07All right this is just temporary.

7:09I plan on getting it nice and flush and all that.

7:12This is the reason why I just have it stuck on like a a tablet style is

7:16because these used pieces are about 800 dollars.

7:20Even in this condition where it has a little discuss right here.

7:22Remember this is that 30 year old car 25 year old car so uh yeah.

7:27But yeah so I have I have this right here.

    7:29It's awesome.

7:30Have all Android Auto Apple Carb it the car, I mean I don't need anything else. Looks wise,

7:35I like OEM better, OEM looks way better.

7:38And then of course, we have your ash tray.

7:42This shift knob is from SOS.

7:44This is basically the Type S or Zanardi shift.

7:48It's really heavy, got good weight.

7:50Right here is the alarm system that I got it with the car.

    7:54It's basically an immobilizer.

7:56You need to put all these codes and stuff, it's pretty cool.

8:00You got your clock, that's wrong probably

8:01because I've been pulling fuses for the radio, but yeah.

8:05You can see the clock and the car's not even on,

8:09or it is on, but you just hold this button.

8:11And then you can see it.

8:14Glob box in 91, it was pretty big,

8:18. But now in later models, passengers got an airbag

8:21and that's why it's so crazy right here,

8:24because that's the airbag and they had to shrink it.

    8:29, pretty interesting.

8:29But yeah, that kind of finishes the interior.

    8:31I really like the interior.

8:32I think it ages very well as android head unit.

    8:35It still looks.

    8:35Looks very stylish.

    8:36Also with the white faces.

8:37If it had the stock faces it would look really nice.

8:41So let me show you the all the orifices.

    8:45Popped open.

    8:46We got trunk.

    8:48We got a hood.

    8:49We got gas cap.

    8:52We got engine bay.

8:57Now a lot of people confuse.

    8:58They confuse themselves.

    9:00Okay.

    9:01This is a mid-engine car right.

    9:02The NSX mid-engine car.

    9:03Does it doesn't have a trunk.

    9:04So let me show you.

    9:07It does have a trunk.

    9:08And it's actually pretty sizable.

9:10Where you can fit your golf carts in it.

    9:13It's not very deep though.

9:14If you look inside of it.

    9:23It's not very deep.

9:24If you come out come and come in here.

9:29So I got some stuff here.

9:30I got a this basically is a battery jumper if I needed it.

9:34Face mask lens and some bulbs.

9:37But yeah it's not very deep.

9:38Because the exhaust is right underneath this.

9:41So usually if you do drive pretty hard this.

9:43and this it does get kind of hot.

9:45And then you even have a CD changer.

    9:49Is it nuts?

    9:50Check out the CD changer.

    9:526, I I don't, it.

    9:54I don't use it and I I I disconnected it. and I disconnected it.

9:57But this is this CD changer no mp3 though.

10:01So let me just open the next port.

    10:06Put gas in here.

10:07You know I'm used to driving the Tesla.

10:09So it feels weird driving of a gas car again.

10:13And go into the gas station.

10:14Because gas stations are grinding me as hell.

10:17Now this is the glass for the engine bay.

10:21with the 1985 you have the target.

    10:23So let me show you.

10:24Press- you press this little lever right here and that's where your roof is.

10:29People sometimes put gloves in here too.

10:32So when they take the target off, you don't leave fingerprints.

10:35But underneath this is the V-TEC and it does get toasty.

10:47So a lot of people like to remove this piece right here so, so that you can see the engine.

    10:55Yeah, I don't mind right now.

10:56You can actually fit the- you can actually fit the target in the trunk too.

10:58So if you really wanted to do that, you can.

11:01Just show off your engine bay.

11:02My engine bay is gonna be stock, it's gonna stay stock.

    11:06So that's just

11:34right here you, get the radiator, you got your master cylinder and all that stuff uses and you got the pop-up headlights.

11:42But yeah, look at that if you zoom out and just take everything in it looks pretty insane with everything open.

11:53Crazy, so many things are open.

    11:56Get a shot of that open-drill thing.

12:14So yeah, so the pop-ups are open.

12:16It has this nice Ferrari look.

12:18I always thought the NSX had the better looking kind of pop-up headlights so that's certainly

12:24And it does have HIDs in it from the previous owner.

12:28The wiring is a little bit itchy so I might redo everything.

12:32You might go with LED or a different HID kit because lighting, for me, is pretty important. So

12:40I might have to change that.

12:42But certain T-shirts like this uh these bulbs, I kind of like it like that vintage look too.

12:47So even, even though it's like that amber or like that halogen yellow, it doesn't bother me.

12:54I know it bothers some other people but for me it doesn't- it's an older car.

    13:16I I

13:21do a lot of things or doing nothing so it's kind of like I want to get the front

13:24lip because the front lip right now from the previous owner is already scuffed up

13:27but if I do that I want to get side skirts and after that I want to get

13:31the re-railance different wheels after that I'm done but I'm saying do I want

13:37to do all that little kit in the wheels

13:39It's, uh, it's a mixed bag for me.

13:44Now radios though, I'll do, radios things that are reversible pretty easily for me that I'm really

13:49experienced I don't mind doing that stuff, so radios, double din set up, right now it has

13:56that tablet it looks kind of silly but it is functional, functional reform sometimes because

14:01Because I did get this car about two weeks ago so it's still fresh for me.

14:04I still digging in and out seeing what I want but I'm very happy with this car.

14:09If you guys were interested you know mention the comments because I don't know how

14:13you guys would like to see the progress on this car or what I did.

14:17I already did some things like the cabin filter, air filter for the engine.

14:22I polished it already and you know struts and all that stuff.

14:26So I did some small stuff but if you want me to actually do a build series on getting

14:33, do some cool montages. I can do that, smash that like like buttoner button, then comment and then I'll do it. Thank you guys for watching. I'll see you guys in the next one, Peace.

15:03I'll see you in the next video, peace out.
