Yes — you can install Dasaita on the Dasaita head unit for the Honda Accord 2008–2012 (Amazon and Dasaita store links in the description) with a 32 min DIY job. Pull the console, cubby, trim and factory radio, relocate the top info display, then wire Dasaita's harnesses in between the factory plugs: extension, AUX audio, main power and steering controls..
Overview
John calls this Accord install the trickiest he's done so far because the Dasaita unit works alongside the factory radio instead of replacing it. The factory head unit and climate controls stay; the Dasaita screen goes where the radio face was, the small monochrome info display ("the calculator screen") is relocated lower in a new trim piece, and the Dasaita's audio feeds into the factory system so your steering controls still work. He shows the teardown on another Accord: center console and armrest clips (four tight ones), the cubby's Phillips screws including two hidden ones, two hard-to-see 8mm bolts with crusher nuts, the silver trims, and the brittle sun-baked radio surround. Then he walks through every harness: the 12-pin extension that powers the relocated display, the AUX lead, the big main harness that sits between the factory plugs, and the orange lead for illumination and audio. He had two problems and shares the fixes: no sound until he ran audio from the front-left/front-right RCA outputs on the big multi-pin plug instead of the AUX L/R inputs, and dead steering controls until he connected the plugs labeled "key" to each other instead of the navigation-control one. The finished install looks modern with a 720p IPS screen, and the factory buttons and info display still light up.

Step by step
- 1
How this setup works▶ 0:39
The factory radio and climate controls stay. The Dasaita goes where the radio face is and the small info screen moves down, so you keep everything, including steering controls; the Dasaita's audio comes in through AUX.
- 2
Remove the center console trim▶ 2:30
Clear the cup holders, open the armrest and pry the two clips there, then work around the remaining clips. Four are pretty tight. Unplug the cigarette lighter (and heated seats if equipped).
Tip: Watch for clips that stay in the dash so you can put them back.
- 3
Remove the cubby▶ 4:11
Removing the trim exposes the cubby's screws. You may need to shift into another gear for clearance. Remove the bottom Phillips screws and the two hidden ones up top.
- 4
Find the two 8mm bolts▶ 5:54
Behind the cubby are two bottom bolts you have to find by feel. Each is an 8mm with a crusher nut and washer. Don't drop them.
- 5
Pop the silver trims▶ 6:51
Use the plastic trim tools; they're held by clips. Unplug the sensor on the back (airbag or climate).
- 6
Remove the radio surround carefully▶ 7:30
Start from the corner, pry up and in. Remove the two screws behind it and pull it straight out with even pressure.
Warning: On a car that's sat in the sun these plastics are brittle; some clips broke on this one.
- 7
Unplug and pull the unit▶ 9:14
Unplug the hazard button, airbag light, climate control and radio plugs. One clip needs a flathead. Then the whole unit comes out.
- 8
Remove the upper display▶ 10:28
Remove the shroud, then the four bolts (8mm / Phillips) and two Phillips on top. The owner says it's just a clock, but it has to move to make space.
- 9
Know the factory plugs▶ 11:59
Top gray 12-pin (2×6) controls the upper display. A white clip runs the hazard buttons, a gray clip the HVAC, and a black plug is the cigarette lighter.
- 10
What's in the box▶ 13:06
Screws for the relocated display, the harnesses, a new lower trim with a pocket where the cigarette lighter was, the display trim backing, and the unit itself with capacitive volume buttons.
- 11
Extension wire for the info display▶ 15:58
Plug the extension into the factory 12-pin and fish it down so the relocated display can reach its new spot. Its orange wire is illumination so the backlight follows your headlights.
- 12
Main harness in between the factory plug▶ 17:31
Unclip the factory plug, plug it into the Dasaita harness's female end, then plug the harness into the radio and lock both in. The other end goes into the back of the Dasaita.
- 13
Leave FM on the factory radio▶ 19:20
The radio antenna stays on the OEM unit, so the FM lead on the Dasaita isn't needed.
- 14
Power the relocated display▶ 20:14
Plug the extension into the back of the info display so it powers on with the car.
- 15
Orange audio lead▶ 20:51
Unplug the factory orange-wire plug and put the Dasaita's female connector in between, listening for the click.
- 16
Fix: no sound▶ 22:26
Plugging into AUX L/R in gave no audio. What worked: connect the AUX lead to the big multi-pin RCA plug (the black one with the most pins), using its front-left and front-right outputs.
- 17
Move the display into the new trim▶ 23:59
Remove the four screws and clips holding the display in its housing (carefully; it's fragile), then mount it in the new trim with four screws, clean side facing the screen. Black out the edges with tape if you like.
- 18
Fix: steering controls▶ 26:09
On this non-navigation car the brown wire was on the plug labeled for navigation controls. Unplug it and connect the two plugs labeled "key" to each other instead.
- 19
USBs, tuck and test▶ 27:06
Route the USBs to the glove box, tuck everything so it's presentable, line up the tab when pushing the unit in, and test everything before final assembly.
- 20
Tour▶ 28:41
A changeable launcher, GPS, a 720p IPS display, Android 10 and a six-core processor, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. AUX, FM and the factory USB still work on the OEM unit, and the factory buttons still light up.
Wiring notes
- 12-pin extension: factory display plug to the relocated info display (orange = illumination).
- Main harness sits between the factory radio plug and the radio; other end into the Dasaita.
- Orange-wire plug: Dasaita connector goes between the factory plugs.
- Audio: AUX lead to the multi-pin RCA plug's front-left/front-right outputs (AUX L/R in gave no sound for John).
- Steering controls (non-nav car): connect the two plugs labeled "key"; don't use the navigation-control plug.
- FM stays on the factory radio; Dasaita FM lead not needed.

0:00more in-ais more in depth look of the wiring now let's plug in that in all right so guys we have the Honda Accord right here we have the Honda Accord right here we have the head unit now this Honda Accord is heavily my channel how do you get it to work how do you get it to work get the wiring done so that's for y'all today all right so we are inside the Honda Accord
0:32How do you get the wiring done?
0:36So I'm gonna do that for y'all today.
0:39Alright, so we are inside the Honda Accord and look at this interior. It actually
0:48aged very well with the new infotainment system it will bring it to the
0:52the next level. Now notice that this interface right here got, got climate
0:57control, you get the CD player, AMFM, all the infotainment will lack of
1:02entertainment. Just kind of like the media player. Then we have a screen up
1:06here. The screen is more like a calculator screen like a mono. I'll show you real
1:10quick. So you guys have a good idea. And you, you can cycle through it to show, you
1:18know, menu, CD, AM FM. So it shows some data.
1:22Now with this set up right here, to the keys out with this setup, we're
1:27gonna relocate that screen to be down here. And with this this head
1:34unit right here we're gonna put that right here so you'll still retain
1:38everything it's just with this head unit you're gonna be you're gonna use aux here
1:43So, that's the main get take away and you'll still be able to use your steering wheel controls
1:47and all that jazz so you don't have to worry about that
1:51But in the end, you're just basically having a more modern look but you're still retaining
1:57your OEM setup Now, when it comes to the install, I will show
2:03you guys how to disassemble this in another person's car because I
2:08have already done that for this decided install I'm gonna
2:12really focus on the wiring because a lot of people are stumped
2:17on that so I'm going to show you a different car real quick on how
2:30Alright, so the first thing you want to tackle is the center console area
2:33You have the cup holes and stuff make sure everything is clear like we talked about
2:37Now you see you have to open the armrest up and then you want to you want to pry around these two areas there.
2:42There's two clips, so you want to do like right here after that. There's gonna be some more clips here
2:48So you want to pry it open open open
2:52Now I already got a pre-loose so you're gonna. Have to wrestle with it and after that
2:57There's a little cigarette lighter and some cars you have like heated seats you can adjust that for the cigarette lighter
3:07here you press it and you should be able to pull it out so let me show you the clips because it is actually pretty tight.
3:16All right so you have these two clips right here that were talked about initially and then, then you have the center clip.
3:25And each clip on this side so let's look over here so you can get an indication of where you need a clip at so pry right here right here.
3:31So pry right here, pry right here, and you want to hit it right here.
3:36This area, there is four clips pretty tight
3:39and you can actually see that this one actually kept into its thing.
3:43So this is the clip. Make sure we put it back in here. There you go. I think there's supposed to be one more, but I don't see it.
3:55I'm not sure if I fell, but you see you see these clips right here. Pay attention to those.
4:02All right cool so that's out of the way and that's one of the harders spots so if you guys can get that and you guys done that and literally.
4:11So they only use these tools in my fingers. What it's going to do is it's going to expose these heads right here that we're going to have to use to remove this cubby thing.
4:22Now you might you might have to shift it into a different gear.
4:26You might be of a pop that just drop.
4:31I'm going to put in first gear. It's probably not going to let me take the keys out but when you take this part out you can you be able to squeeze it out more.
4:46So I'm going to use this little power tool but you'll be able to just use a regular Philips head drive.
4:54So I'm going to put this in the little cup holder right there. It's not going nowhere.
5:07So for this cubby removal we did the bottom ones. There's two hidden ones up here. Let me see if you guys can get I just know that there's two hidden screws down here.
5:18There's a screwdriver and I don't know if you guys can see that. It's a little bit tricky but you unscrew it and it just pulls slowly and hopefully and hopefully nothing.
5:29falls out. In this case it fell out into the little cubby hole which is good. Let's see if we can remove this piece.
5:32case-case it fell out into the little cubby hole and you can kind of see the
5:49screw holes right here again we are making great progress after we move that
5:54cubby. We can now get access to these bottom bolts. You can't see it so I'm
6:00want to just show you right here. I can't I can't even see it I'm just feeling
6:05around. It's gonna be right here. There's two of them and they're not actually
6:09torque very well so I barely even unscrewed it and now it's coming out.
6:16Remember what I said make sure you don't drop it. So I got one it looks like
6:22this. It's an eight millimeter with like a crusher nut and a washer. So where I
6:29put that little cubby. And then next one I don't see. Again you just want to feel
6:40I just kind of like. It's going to be like right here. There it is. We're going to put it in our cup holder.
6:51So the next thing is we have to remove these trim pieces. These silver trim pieces. I used the tools, plastic trim tools. These are included.
7:01you want to just pop it out, it's just held by clips. there's you can see the two clips.
7:07And you have a little sensor thing, these are usually, air bag or climate control.
7:17The next thing we do is remove this, again this is on my clips, so I like to
7:27them because you can't see scratch.
7:30or anything. Alright, so we removed this trim right right here. Just pop it
7:37right out. You can see these clips. These are just held by clips but just
7:41be careful with this because this car looks like it's been sitting in the sun for a bit so
7:46the plastics are a little bit brittle so actually some of these clips actually broke
7:50broke off right here. So just want to be careful. The way we did it
7:57so that it was just back on it, like, put it back on.
8:01We started from this area right here and we pried up and we pried in.
8:06And this piece is very fragile. Just be careful.
8:12And that will reveal this little screw right here and this little screw right here.
8:18And, of course these little stickers are hiding some cracks but these cracks have already been there. Again, the plastics have not aged well.
8:27Because this car was probably parked outside.
8:31So we're just going to remove one, two, and put it
8:39put it in the area you'll remember.
8:42After you got that, you just have to pry it out..
8:45Remember ours is a little bit cracked so we're just going to be kind of safe but you just pull it straight out.
8:50You can use your prying tool just like you got one right here. You can kind of pry it right here.
8:55You want to just pop it open. Try. Try to do it equal pressure.
9:00Nice.
9:14Alright, so when you remove it, there's a bunch of cables in the back. Let me show you guys..
9:18And with these
9:19with these cables try to unplug the hazard button, the airbag light, and all of that.
9:23So we got the airbag light and the hazard.
9:27Next off, we have whatever this is. This has a lot of stress on the wire.
9:30this is, this has a lot of stress on the wire right now, so after you
9:36remove these top two, it looks like climate control, yeah so that's the
9:41climate control, we have the air bag and hazard, and then we have the radio
9:48stuff and we're good it and we, we're good.
9:511, 2,
9:531, 2,
9:551, 2,
9:571, 2,
10:06So it's actually out. And then this one, I don't know if you can see it.
10:13But this one, you have to use like a flat head screwdriver.
10:15All right, so I'm going to use a flat head. It's a lot easier. I'll just put it right here.
10:20And then you'll be able to pop it out. Now the whole unit comes out and we did it.
10:28The big, the big boy. We removed the radio, but we still need to remove this upper display.
10:33and this upper display the owner told me is just a clock which is interesting but we have to remove
10:42it to make space for the android head unit so that's and we'll put thatner here hopefully this
10:54piece just comes out you got this shroud right here and then we have four bolts which I'm
11:05Now it looks like it could be eight or ten.
11:09I'm just going to use a power tool.
11:14It's nice that it's like an eight mil or it's a Phillips.
11:24And then there's two Philips on top.
11:31Be careful with your, with
11:35your tools because you don't want to scratch that.
11:40Then this bad boy should come out.
11:51All right, so present me is here.
11:54I'm going to go through.
11:55Every cable and this is the assembly.
11:57Okay.
11:58Everything is just assembled.
11:59I'm going to be installing the side ahead unit.
12:02First, this top wire right here.
12:05It's gray has two by six so it's a 12 pin right here.
12:11That controls this top screen.
12:16Okay, it's unplugged right now.
12:20Followed by let's go through this cable right here.
12:23This is plugged into right here.
12:27This white
12:28This white little clip plugs into that and that controls the hazard buttons.
12:30and that controls the hazard buttons. This right here
12:34with the gray clip controls the climate control HVAC system
12:40and then I have not unplugged anything on the radio.
12:44So that's how we're doing wiring. So everything's still plugged in
12:49don't have to worry too much about that and then we have this black plug that
12:54was the cigarette lighter. Everything's
12:57super clear right now and very easy to follow. Now when we introduce the new
13:01Now we're going to introduce the new system.
13:03It's going to get a little more confusing but I'm going to break it down for you guys.
13:06All right, so we go to the side of the box.
13:09These screws are going to need to screw in the top head unit or top display.
13:17Here are the harnesses that we're going to walk through.
13:22This is where we're going to use to relocate the display.
13:28Notice how there's some screws, the whole little screw holes.
13:32We're going to reuse that.
13:46This side always packages everything so nicely.
13:54Again, here's the new trim for the bottom.
13:56Where you had the cigarette lighter, your cigarette lighter would be right here.
14:01This is your bottom piece.
14:03This little pocket and then that display trim, this is the backing of it,
14:08goes onto that.
14:10Then we have the unit itself.
14:16Now it is a heavy boy and I'm doing this one handed.
14:20I'd love to see it.
14:22New electronics, nice trim.
14:25That little molding, that little character line.
14:28Beautiful display.
14:30chamfered edges. Nice little logo. We got
14:33actual buttons right here. Not buttons but
14:35they're capacitive so they touch volume up.
14:37Always appreciate it has such a thing. And you
14:40got the back right there. You have speach. You have these
14:43It's not worried too much about them. Just know that you're in good shape and this is gonna hook up to the top of the car
14:49So let me just mock that up
14:52real quick
14:56Gonna go something like this right here. Damn
15:00something like that okay loosely and I don't want to put it because I'm not
15:06sure you guys the wiring that's the most interesting part about this install so
15:12let's
15:15most of the harnesses and all that break it down for y'all now there's a twist
15:24Let's get rid of that and then we'll break it down further try to make it super clear for y'all
15:32Part of my sudden accident
15:38Yeah, just cleaning up these twist ties now. There's a lot of wires in my hand. So I'm gonna have to break it down for you
15:46Bust off we have this wire, which is the ox in not worry about that right now
15:56Secondly, we have this wire right here
15:58most likely this is going to be the extension wire so what I mean by extension
16:07is now we, we are relocating this to the bottom so what you would have
16:14to do on the 8 chordd line and plug this in, boom now you, now you fish
16:24this down, okay, and you can put your
16:29screen, I remember this, the calculator screen I was talking about? Now it can be on the bottom.
16:34You see how it can reach now so you would plug it in right here. Remember this is the
16:40new wire, all new because the OEM stops right there. Boom. I'm not gonna plug it in yet
16:48but now you know that's where you plug it in. And it has another orange wire that,
16:55that's illumination so it knows when your car's headlights are on to turn on um the back light so
17:03i'm going to show you that in a bit too but speck um yeah I think the best you could try
17:10to fish it around here but for my understanding we'll just do it like this one now boom by
17:16not too bad not too bad okay now let's look at the next wire this was the aux wire we talked
17:25The second wire is plugged in and then you got this
17:31Beasts ae the big birth of the wires right here.
17:34This is where most of the magic is going to happen.
17:36This is where all the power is going to happen and all that jazz.
17:40You got one input has this black part.
17:43This plugs into the back of the head unit.
17:46Look how long it is.
17:47They definitely hook it up.
17:49I mean it's wide.
17:52Okay?
17:53And notice how there is all that stuff.
17:58So this is like goes in between
18:03between the OEM so that you see this wire right here.
18:07We're going to have to take this out.
18:11You pull this little clip down.
18:13You pull it out.
18:15Boom.
18:16I did that all by hand.
18:18That was my first try.
18:20The next thing you want to do is plug in the female part.
18:28So this is where you stick it in into here.
18:31So this is the original, now we're putting that.
18:35And you can lock it in, just
18:37so you get that nice, on-near-reliability, boom.
18:40Okay, remember how this side has a two?
18:44So let's open the clip and plug it in.
18:58Okay, make sure it and then and then lock it in.
19:02Okay?
19:03Now we had those two plugged in right there.
19:07You have the radio antenna and stuff like that.
19:09I don't think we're gonna run radio off the head unit.
19:12We're gonna keep the OEM.
19:14Since we're plugging into OEM we'll
19:16keep the radio on the OEM head unit.
19:18Okay?
19:20Next off we have this one
19:22black part that plugs into the back of this head unit.
19:26Boom.
19:32Okay?
19:33Okay?
19:34This pie right here is for the FM antenna.
19:37You can plug it in if you want to.
19:39But again, this radio is not going to run any FM.
19:43If you want to run FM radio, run it through the OEM.
19:47Okay?
19:51So we have...
19:53Literally we have one thing plugged in right here.
19:58One thing plugged in right here.
20:00Okay?
20:01We still have to plug in this wire.
20:04To get power to the...
20:07the display.
20:09And I'll show you guys that next.
20:13Okay.
20:14So we're gonna power the display
20:17by plugging this extension
20:20into the back of this calculator
20:22that we talked about earlier.
20:24Boom.
20:25Now it should power up when we turn the car on.
20:28For now I'm gonna put it by this cluster right here.
20:33See if I can do it so everyone can still see it.
20:36Okay.
20:41Okay, okay, okay.
20:43Come on.
20:44We're just gonna put it where it would normally sit.
20:49After everything to install it's gonna be right there.
20:51Lastly, the last thing that's in that one bag
20:56bag was this orange one.
20:57This orange wire.
20:58And this is gonna control the sound.
21:01So this is what's gonna control the aux.
21:04We're gonna unplug this guy.
21:06See if you guys can in see that?
21:17There you go.
21:18So it's a starboard wire.
21:20We're gonna plug in the female of this.
21:21Fem me.
21:23Femaleness into here.
21:30And then here that nice satisfying click.
21:34Then we're all these orange wires are going to where it was initially.
21:37Click.
21:44Now we still have this aux portion.
21:47Okay.
21:48This is aux ln and aux rn.
21:50Where do we plug this?
21:51I'll show you.
21:52I'm gonna zoom in a little bit.
22:07So this is the two. .
22:26So this orange wire.
22:27This is honda cord.
22:28And then I had that RCA to RCA coming out of it.
22:30The red and white one.
22:32Now I plugged it.
22:34Now I plugged it into the other one.
22:36Now I actually had to plug it in to this huge RCA one that has a bunch a bunch of
22:43one's plug-in. It has a black head right here. Alright I don't know if you can see that but if I the plug that was in the RCA bag that I plugged in the black one and I
22:56plugged it in if you're facing it upright it's going to be like this it's
23:04it's going to be this black one that has the most pins you can possibly put so I
23:10plugged that and the ox from the ox coming on that if you're if you're getting
23:16no sound then plug it this way get the ox in and then I plugged it into the front
23:24speaker left and front right speaker off of that big one right there yeah so front
23:29L out front R out so that was the only way I can get audio initially I was
23:34trying to do the ox L and ox R in but it didn't work so if you're having issues
23:40when it comes to that next off next so because we got everything working we
23:59we have these trim piece this piece right here we're going to fit it into this this,
24:04so this trim is going to house this screen problem is with the coexisting
24:11bracket it's not going to work so what you have to do is you have to remove
24:14four screws and this is a little crazy but you have to pop this thing out so use
24:21your your fingers or a flathead you can pop this thing out they're just held
24:28by like clips boom we need to remove this thing out of its existing housing
24:35right so my battery got exhausted so I'm going back into this after you
24:40remove the screws and then you do the clips right here you can just pull this
24:44whole unit out so you can use a flathead or something like that and that reveals the
24:50screen now you want to be careful because it's like a you know like a
24:53calculator screen is nothing special but you still want to be careful with it now
24:57we have to take this out and we have to put it into its new housing
25:02move this plastic cover and this is like the more cleaner side so I'm
25:07actually going to have that side be the one touching the screen you want to put
25:12this thing in here so it doesn't fit perfectly just like enough alright and
25:25then we get the the display to have it and then you want to screw it in four screws
25:33right here and this is how it's gonna kind of look this is all this is
25:45optional it's
26:03units now it looks good and I didn't black out that with electric tape so those
26:09look more cohesive right stop now if you're not getting steering
26:21controls to work I had to do this because there's room there's multiple models
26:27this one does not have navigation that you see this one that says key and it's
26:32a brown-wire now and originally it was hooked up to this one right here that
26:36says key but on the other side it said controls at a gation you don't want to have
26:45this one plugged in you want to have it say key key and this one says controls
26:52the car and so I unplugged that and I've replugged these two together this one
26:57, was empty so now we have progress we got audio we got everything's plugged in
27:06the only thing I added was the back was the in the back there's USBs now and I routed
27:10to the glove box but you should have sound now and let me show you guys that
27:15after I kind of route the cables I'll show you how I route the
27:19cables yeah so that was the two issues I had no sound so I could connect to the
27:25aux into the rchx front left front right and then the the steering controls now the
27:37kind of boring part right here is honestly trying to tuck everything
27:50semi presentable yeah so we're just tuck everything and making.
27:55All pretty make sure that there's a tab right here have that this when you push this in,
28:12and have that tab out so it goes in together and then test fit it make sure
28:17everything I mean test check everything make, sure everything turns on and we should
28:25the golden all right so that, is the android head unit install for the condo
28:41cord 2012 2012 very cool there's the UI just in case you wanted to know they have a
28:48launcher you can change this launcher if you want it has GPS on
28:49you
29:11and here's about machine if you curious about that PX6 720P display IPS Android 10
29:24it's a hexachore processor for Ram all very good stuff and then if you notice
29:33there is Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now I haven't really tested it myself so I do have USB
29:54so you can hardwire I haven't really tested this thoroughly so I have to do on
30:02that but yeah everything works and the fitment is great and what you can see I
30:18no sound that you can check this out right here see ox right there says ox I do have a
30:24USB plugged in and there's no audio USB is actually from the factory
30:28right there AFM yeah so everything works all the screens and stuff works on there and if you
30:38means it works fine and then ox is again this thing FM radio I don't know yeah everything seems
30:55to be in order I'm very happy with it all you was working that's big yeah and you can
31:03see that this thing still lights up lights up this thing
31:13it looks slick and really modernizes the interior the car because the infotainment is
31:19it's such a 720p display display this far, then it looks really great and the colors
31:26as an IPS panel it's beautiful anyways thank you for-
