Step by step
- 1
Key ON, e-brake, shift to first▶ 1:54
Don't start the engine — key to ON, parking brake set, shift to first so the dash panel clears.
- 2
Pop the side panel and remove two 8mm bolts▶ 2:34
Two notches; twist the plastic tool with your wrist. The 8mm bolts face outward with washers and are awkward to see from below.
- 3
Pull the upper dash and unplug▶ 3:26
Empty the tray of coins, pull the top section, and unplug HVAC, hazard and related connectors. Photograph plugs if you're unsure.
Warning: Rest the assembly on the shift knob — metal brackets will scratch the plastic.
- 4
Transfer HVAC, hazard and airbag light▶ 5:46
Hazard: 2 bolts. Passenger airbag light: 2 bolts. Fan/HVAC: 3 bolts. Move them to the new bezel. Keep the airbag light plugged in even if there's no display hole.
Tip: John lightly sanded one proud bolt so the bezel sat flush.
- 5
Plug harness, AC and antenna▶ 6:52
Main OEM harness plus the smaller plug, fish the AC connector to the back, then the radio antenna (shortest lead — leave it for last).
- 6
Power-test and pair Bluetooth▶ 8:27
Rough-fit, boot, then pair from the phone. PIN is 0000. Confirm audio before loading every accessory.
- 7
GPS, mic and USB▶ 9:23
Tape the GPS under/near the dash top, fish the mic above the steering column behind trim, and route USBs through the existing glove-box hole.
- 8
Transfer white clips and reassemble▶ 13:59
Gently lift the OEM white clips onto the new bezel, tidy wires, snap the stack in and verify the bright Dasaita UI, CarPlay and LED button colors.

0:02Full instructions on how to do it. Next up is the microphone.
0:22What's up guys, it's your boy John. We're back again here with another video for one of my most popular videos
0:28All my channel the Honda Civic. Now the Honda Civic over there. It's the eighth gen Honda Civic
0:35So if you have a specific list of this similar, then you're gonna be set. We have a DeSyda
0:4164 gigs
0:43It's gonna be a lot. I'm gonna do a quick unboxing. Should be pretty quick. Oh
0:49There you go
0:51Now with these DeSydas, they also come with a full
0:56instructions on how to do it
0:59Boom boom look at everything's colored everything's really nice
1:03For sure nice and thick
1:06It goes over Android Auto now that
1:11Now I got to play extra little scented, but that's just for me
1:16And you're gonna chip some extra harnesses with the power cable and then the unit itself
1:27look at that
1:29and then we have
1:32more cables
1:36Really cool now
1:38I'm going to cut to a video of me
1:42Uninstalling it on this car right here and then where I cut it to
1:46Installing the new one. So let's go rewind back time when I first uninstalled this one
1:54So let's take it apart and move on from there. Okay, don't turn the car on but have it on the on position
2:01I then move this to we're gonna have to move all this out
2:06So let
2:26You can take it out first the brakes it might not make you it might not let you take it out. Okay, just like that
2:34All right, so there's a little panel right here. I don't know if you can see that there's a little two notches
2:38You can a little pick out right here. We're gonna use this plastic tool. So
2:42It'll prevent damaging the thing itself when you open like this. It just pumps right out
2:48I like using a little I just like to use my wrist to twist that way. I'm not damaging anything and that's this is gonna reveal
2:55Two eight millimeter bolts
2:57The bolts are faced this way and that's what holds this plastic trim in
3:02So here's a little bolt right here
3:05You can see there's a little washer and an eight so it is an eight
3:09The only thing is it's really an awkward position. So I use a little tool
3:14So you don't need this tool, but we use this tool to basically grab on to the spot right here beep, but
3:22We pretty much have to just remove these panel pieces and remove the whole top and
3:26To do that make sure there's no coins in here and you should be able to just pull
3:31You can either use your hand to pull so we have that out try to try to get the angle here
4:22So we're gonna pretty much remove all these plugs
4:25For the HVAC system hazard buttons if you aren't sure where it goes. I highly recommend
4:37Taking a picture of it. It'd be very careful. I especially recommend this part so plastic on plastic
4:55It does wear a little bit but metal on plastic
4:58That's gonna do some damage. So be careful with the metal bracket. Yeah, that's how I just want to have it set it on your
5:11Shiffon I'm gonna use it to prevent from scratching too. Yeah, just place it like right here
5:23Yeah, just place it like have it rest on that
5:32That was easy. Oh yeah, then we have the HVAC one
5:42So there you go. We have the head unit out. It's pretty heavy
5:46But we still need to transfer the HVAC systems. So we're gonna get we're gonna unscrew these four bolts
5:53The hazard has two bolts
5:55the passenger airbag light is a two bolts and then the fans are actually another three bolts
6:01so we're gonna unscrew that and
6:04Yeah, we'll do that right now
6:06And welcome back to present day John
6:10Anyways, we wrapped everything up in terms of removing everything and I just reinstalled all the pieces from the original unit
6:18back into this new one
6:21vents and everything I did have to sand one thing a little bit down
6:25So this bolt right here kind of stuck out too far far
6:30So I just kind of like grind it a little bit so then the fitment is more flush for some reason
6:36That was just the case
6:38Everything else is pretty chill the passenger air light. I just have
6:44kind of chillin inside here because there's no spot for it anymore
6:49But yeah, let's just hook up the wiring
6:52All right, so we are gonna be opening power cables for the wiring and
7:00You have this one big one that goes to your OEM head unit and
7:06That's pretty much gonna be the majority of the work
7:10You're also gonna have the smaller one right here, which you're gonna plug in as well and then there is antenna
7:20This is for the AC unit
7:23And you just got to fish it to the back of this and plug it into
7:32There's this very fish
7:34But you just plug it in right here that a being that a boom now it's plugged in
7:44You also have this antenna one right here
7:55I'm gonna plug in the antenna. The antenna is usually the shortest. That's why I try to do it last
8:01But I wanted to show you guys how it looks
8:06antenna
8:08Now there's not a lot of give and you want to plug that antenna right here
8:14Now there's a bunch of other accessories who haven't plugged in but these are the main ones that can get you started like
8:21Basically it going
8:23So I'm gonna plug it in and just roughly put it in
8:27So bluetooth pair
8:51I'm on my iPhone 15 Pro and I'm just going to pair it like how you pair any bluetooth device
8:58Yes, search it right there
9:01Pops up the car kit and the password 0-0-0
9:06pair
9:07boom my iPhone's connected and with these modern
9:11Android head units. It's generally
9:15Pretty simple. That's it
9:17So now that we know that the head unit works we can do all the accessories
9:23The accessories comes with things like the GPS antenna the Wi-Fi antenna when it comes to the Ford G cellular kind of thing
9:34Ox here's a little like SIM card slot. We can add all these new features in
9:40Backup cameras. I don't have a backup camera, but we could add it here
9:45This is for subwoofer RCA jacks
9:53There's a ton of accessories
9:56More USBs
9:58More USBs
10:01There's a lot of accessories that we can add um
10:10Let's do the
10:13GPS antenna
10:16Because that's useful to have
10:18It's gonna be this little baggy right here
10:21And you could route it all the way on like the top, but
10:28Honestly from my experience because I use car play a lot and when I need to use sell you
10:34like the
10:38Bill 10 GPS units. I just put it right here on the top
10:43I just taped it there and
10:46That's generally good enough
10:48So I just have it taped right there
10:53Next off we have the 4G antenna. I'm not gonna use that, but
10:57It's in the bag. It's shaped like this
11:02And that's if you want to use the cellular
11:24Next off is the microphone. I am going to fish it on top of the steering wheel
11:32Which is located right here and I'm just gonna fish it behind the trip panels
11:37Oh
11:39Nothing really to show there besides kind of just sneaking the wire
11:44Through and through
11:50So that's what I'm gonna do. I'm just gonna snake the wire
11:54Or people say fish fish the wire
12:54All right, the next thing I'm gonna do is gonna fish some of these wires the USBs
13:00And you can just tuck it through this little hole right here
13:03And
13:05And into the glove box. You don't need to reboot the glove box or anything
13:09There is a hole that's adequate size
13:14We can just slip it right in
13:17Makes it a little bit easier
13:18So I have three little speeds coming out and you want to plug it in
13:25To
13:26Great thing about the sight is it only fits one way so like this four pin one right here
13:32It goes right here
13:35And then this purple one there's a little notch on the side
13:39Is brown one
13:44If you were to take it is
13:46Starting to be a little room restriction
13:55You just have to plug it in
13:59I forgot to mention you have to grab these white clips from your OEM unit and transfer it to the new one
14:06To pop them out
14:08So you just pop down a little bit
14:11To prop them out you just grab it from the top
14:15And then slowly bend it
14:18And I'll slide it right off and you can pop it into your new piece
14:24We'll do it again
14:26Do it for angle
14:29Slowly now they're plastic so you don't want to break them
14:32It's just be gentle
14:38Sometimes they shoot out too so
14:45That way you'll have that really good fit made
14:50All back in your speeds right here just clean it up a little bit
15:14These are you just want to do so
15:23And Tata it works
15:26This is the new UI it's actually pretty brilliant
15:30Screens insanely bright
15:32Look at that brightness
15:35All right, so here is the UI in all of its glory
15:39I insanely think this is one of the best UIs for an android head unit
15:44It's simple, clean, it's not cluttered
15:47You have your little widgets on the side which I like
15:50And the screen is so bright and vibrant
15:53In person, it looks great
15:55I need to get a little lower a little bit on my camera
15:58There you go, so hopefully you guys can see that a little bit better
16:00Let me turn this off
16:03A little dome light
16:05But yeah, here it is
16:06You have a bunch of stuff
16:08All these little applications
16:09That's very similar to what you would find in a tablet
16:14But there's also car specific stuff like the wheel
16:18This car doesn't have screen wheel controls or anything
16:21But you can add that if you wanted to
16:24The amplifier
16:25All that goodness radio
16:27There's some face to some ways and stuff like that
16:30It has the built-in navigation as well
16:33CarPlay
16:36So here's CarPlay looks amazing
16:39We'll go through what I listen to and what not
16:45Android Auto, I don't have that connected
16:47I don't know exactly what this is
16:48Oh, so it looks like some kind of screen mirroring
16:50If you're into that
16:52You can screen mirror
16:53Let's go through the settings
16:56And very similar
16:59All right, so this is the settings
17:01Let's go to there's network
17:02Which was something you
17:04Basically internet connection
17:06Bluetooth car
17:08Enable CarPlay
17:09LED settings
17:11Now that's what the term when you have your headlights on
17:13What color of these things are right here
17:16And you can change it to red, green, white
17:20I think we'll just keep it to white
17:22Because a lot of the heads
17:23The Civic's stuff is like white
17:26Amp-steer wheel controls
17:29No steering wheel controls on this car
17:32But you could add it
17:34Amp-fire
17:35If you really want to tune the music
17:40Navigation is
17:43All this extra stuff
17:47Voice assistant
17:50It's on Google by default
17:53Driving settings is probably what you want to see
17:55If you're watching Netflix or YouTube
17:57And the screen is black
17:58Make sure it says watch video
18:01While driving
18:02You can have that toggled on
18:04You can do other stuff right here
18:06I don't really recommend driving
18:09With watching video by the way
18:11It's more for your passengers
18:13Extra settings
18:15Auto-sleep delay
18:16So
18:17Similar to your phone
18:18When you press power
18:21On your phone it goes to sleep
18:22And when you press it
18:23It instantly turns on
18:25Same thing with this
18:26If you go into the store
18:28The gas station or something like that
18:30Boom
18:31It's already back on
18:33If you go to the grocery shop
18:35And you spend 20 minutes
18:37You go back in your car
18:38Instantly it turns back on
18:41And you can set this to
18:4330 seconds one minute
18:45Or five minutes one hour
18:47How to just have it auto
18:48It does a good job on auto
18:50To just kind of handle this business
18:52If you have a really weak battery
18:53Then just have it like
18:55One minute or something like that
18:58Back-up camera stuff
18:59Display voltage
19:00You can have it right here
19:01So you can
19:03Display of whether your car can start or not
19:05If you're using this too much
19:06While your car is off
19:08Kind of like we're doing right now
19:10Notifications
19:11Wallpapers
19:13All this stuff is kind of boring
19:15About machine
19:19It's using the Android version 12
19:22That's the kernel build number
19:29Using
19:31There's like quad core
19:32Octocore I'm guessing
19:34This is the Snapdragon
19:35But it uses the A73
19:37Two gigahertz quad
19:38And then another quad core
19:40A53 more efficiency cores
19:42And then it has six gigs of RAM
19:44Which is a lot
19:47For a head unit like this
19:49You're not going to ever have any slowdowns
19:50This thing is buttery smooth
19:52And the screen is just absolutely beautiful
19:57Again for most of this life
20:00This is my cousin's car that I did it for him
20:02He only uses car play
20:04And he loves how snappy
20:05Fast responsive
20:06He just wants to get in the car
20:08Doesn't have to plug anything in
20:10And just go
20:11So with this new head unit
20:12It's going to be
20:13Faster
20:14It's going to sound better
20:15The displays the main upgrades
20:17Over previous generation head units
20:20So if you had like a 2018 head unit
20:23If you want a more crispier screen
20:26It's down to your time to upgrade
20:27This IPS panel
20:29And there's like this QLED
20:30And there's a lot of things that they're adding nowadays
20:33That I'll put a specs to cheat down below
20:35But I'm telling you the quality of the screen
20:37It's just so amazing
20:39Like I don't know if I can show you
20:41How good this looks
20:43I mean you got the calculator screen in the back
20:46But this is just so
20:48It looks like
20:492000 like 1080p
20:51Like shrunk down
20:52To such a small screen
20:54Making it look absolutely amazing
20:56But yeah
20:57Thank you guys for watching
20:58This head unit
21:01Bravo
21:01Good job Dessider
21:02If you guys were interested in getting this head unit
21:05I'll leave the links down below
21:06Thank you guys for watching
21:07I'll catch you guys in the next one
21:08Peace
