Joying 10" 720p Universal Head Unit: 1-Month Owner Review in a Subaru BRZ

Kim's take after a month of daily driving with the Joying 10" 720p universal head unit in her BRZ: speed, radio and Bluetooth quality, reliability in 100-degree heat, and the one thing she'd change (a fixed screen position).

Yes — you can install JOYING on the Universal 10" double-DIN unit shown in a Subaru BRZ with a 6 min DIY job. Kim's take after a month of daily driving with the Joying 10" 720p universal head unit in her BRZ: speed, radio and Bluetooth quality, reliability in 100-degree heat, and the one thing she'd change (a fixed screen.

Overview

A one-month check-in on the Joying 10" 720p universal unit in Kim's Subaru BRZ, driven daily through 100-degree California heat. She calls it one of the best head units she's had. It looks huge and great, runs smoothly, and is much faster than her old one. She mainly uses Bluetooth calls and music plus FM radio. Radio sounds near-HD, Bluetooth audio is clean, and she's had no connection problems. Wi-Fi just tethers to her phone. She hasn't run into bugs or apps opening by themselves. Her one wish is screen adjustability. The panel is hard-mounted, so you can't tilt or swivel it, and remounting it only drops it about a millimeter. John points out the rotating units he's testing next fix that. In the description, John highlights the SPDIF/coax digital output, Intel 8-core chip, DSP and 4G LTE. He calls the digital output a big deal, since name-brand units with digital output cost over $2,000.

0:05the Joying head unit now this head unit you've been having for about like how long

0:10like a month about

0:12about a month and let's just turn it on real quick so everyone

0:22while that's happening you tell us like pretty much

0:26what's your experience with the joint head unit so far? I think by far it's one

0:31of the best head units that I've had because it looks huge and it looks

0:37great and it runs really smooth I haven't had any issues with it connection

0:43wise it's perfect it has a lot of different features I like it's a lot

0:49faster than my old one so I'm pretty, I'm pretty satisfied with it. Are there any

0:55weird like bugs or the file like an app just turned on by itself or anything

1:02weird that you noticed day-to-day? Nope, bugs so recently. Nothing's been

1:08happening that. That's out of the ordinary. Um, I just use it mainly for Bluetooth, radio for talking on

1:14the phone and all of that. So no, so far nothing that I've experienced was a bad issue. So how is

1:22like, radio

1:23reception and Wi-Fi and the Bluetooth could like just connection it in in general. There's three

1:28s. So radio, pretty good. I listen to the radio a-lot. And, and I've had no

1:34issues there. It's pretty, it sounds HD so it sounds really. Really high quality for me.

1:40Bluetooth music, also that sounds very nice., no connection issues with any of those. Wi-Fi

1:47not not so much because it just connects to my phone. So whatever, signal you have in your

2:36because we can remove this and move it just a notch down

2:39It's unfortunate it is hard mounted, so you can't just swivel it moving up, up and down or left and right

2:45So if there was something like that it would be great

2:49I know I have have a head unit calming-in that does have that you know adjust the ability

2:53I used to have a monitor that doesn't go up and down and swivel and stuff

2:57and I'm just like of this monitor sounds, but

3:03but with the new monitor, me new monitor, having that adjustability, you know, up down left, right,

3:05ABA, it can tilt swivel rotated.

3:09and uh, yeah, so this one does not have it. it, you have to take basically screws

3:13screws off of it and then of re-mount it.

3:16we'll be able to it a hair a bit small, you move it down like

3:19you can move it like it's about like it's about like a

3:21I would say like a millimeter so it's not gonna make a huge difference or maybe like

3:51You don't have any built in, you didn't put your own music into here like a flash or anything.

4:21cool well other

4:28people are questioning about the

4:29reliability of these head units we test this on a day-to-day basis

4:33we daily you know you know you can meet you usually like what 20 20 miles each way so

4:38I mean you can't put it through it through its p

4:40spaces and make sure that this head unit has been good have, you have it do that

4:51.......... I.

5:21I don't have any

5:51be sure to catch us in the next one, we're going to do a lot more
