Yes — you can install Dasaita on the Dasaita head unit for the 2010–2020 Toyota 4Runner (Dasaita, Amazon and AliExpress links in the description) with a 9 min DIY job. Pull the 4Runner's side trims, remove the four screws, pull the radio and climate panel out and unplug everything, move the vents, hazard button and brackets onto the Dasaita unit.
Overview
John installs a Dasaita head unit in a friend's 2010–2020 4Runner. Pull the two trim pieces toward you (by hand gives more feel than a plastic tool, but go easy because older trim can be brittle). Move the climate control out of the way while keeping it connected, and remove the four screws behind it. The radio is heavy and there's foam sealing around the vents up top; once the clips release it comes out. Unplug everything: radio antenna, main power, rear speakers, XM radio and the hazard button. The Dasaita is a similar silver to stock with a much better screen, and the factory vents and hazard button transfer over for an OEM look; don't forget the brackets. The plug-and-play kit came with two harnesses because the plugs vary over the years: one fits his model year, the other is for later trucks. The fix worth knowing: the reverse-trigger cable didn't fit any plug, so to keep the stock backup camera (which the manufacturer said wouldn't work) he found by trial and error that it belongs in the red wire of the gray plug. A couple of leftover plugs (likely GPS or XM) stay dangling. Then set up the steering-wheel controls and test: the reverse camera comes on when you shift into reverse.

Step by step
- 1
Remove the side trims▶ 0:17
Pull each trim piece toward you (toward the back of the car). John uses his hands because it gives more feedback than a plastic tool.
Warning: Depending on the truck's age, the trim can be cracked or brittle. Be careful.
- 2
Move the climate control and remove four screws▶ 0:57
Get the climate control out of the way but keep it connected. Four screws hold the radio assembly.
- 3
Pull the radio▶ 1:21
It's heavy and there's foam sealing around the vents up top. Once the clips let go it comes out more easily.
- 4
Unplug everything▶ 1:55
Push down each clip and pull every connector: radio antenna, main power, rear speakers, XM radio and the hazard button.
- 5
Transfer vents, hazard and brackets▶ 2:21
The factory vents and hazard button move over to the Dasaita for an OEM look. Don't forget the brackets.
- 6
Pick the right harness▶ 3:05
Plugs changed over the years, so the kit includes two harnesses. One matches the earlier trucks (the camera plug on it fits); the other is for the later model years.
- 7
Check the extras▶ 4:02
In the box: backup camera plugs, Wi-Fi and GPS antennas.
- 8
Fix: keep the stock backup camera▶ 4:27
The reverse-trigger cable didn't fit any plug. By trial and error John found it belongs on the red wire of the gray plug (he made a small slit to test it). With that, the original backup camera works even though the manufacturer said it wouldn't.
Tip: The reverse signal is the red cable connected to the orange wire on the harness, labeled BACK.
- 9
Leftover plugs▶ 5:37
A few plugs stay dangling; one is most likely the GPS or XM. Everything else plugs in normally.
- 10
Reassemble▶ 5:57
With the main cables connected, tidy up the wiring and put the rest back together.
- 11
Test the cameras▶ 7:42
Shift into reverse and the backup camera comes up. The unit also supports a front camera, which helps a lot when parking a big truck like the 4Runner.
Wiring notes
- Factory plugs: radio antenna, main power, rear speakers, XM radio, hazard button.
- Two harnesses in the kit: early vs later model years.
- Reverse trigger: red wire on the gray plug (orange harness wire labeled BACK) keeps the stock backup camera.
- Leftover plugs (GPS/XM) can stay unplugged.

0:00Hey guys, what's up? It's your boy John.
0:02John. and today I'm going to be doing an install video on the forerunner head unit by the side of now it's going to be really cool, so.
0:08So let's just get right into it.
0:12All right, guys inside the forerunner 2010 to 2020.
0:17And the first thing we got to do is remove these trim pieces. Now we got a plastic tool, but we're just going to use it.
0:23We have more feedback and it's just easier.
0:26So we're going to just kind of just rip this thing out forward so towards your body, towards the back of the car.
0:33And that's one of them.
0:34And then you're just going to have to remove the second one.
0:36And just be
0:57you get the climb control out of the way.
0:58Keep it connected, but there's these four screws, screws that needs to go.
1:05The visible right now you guys can see on the screen and just move forward from there
1:21Next off is the prettiest part we call this the praying pool now
1:25We're now, this is pretty heavy. So you straight out
1:28There's a bunch of cables connected to It the back of the head unit and hazard buttons
1:36once you pull it out, it's going to be a little bit loose.
1:55So you just push on the clip down and then you just pull every single, every single wire from radio, antenna to you I'm
2:01, to main power rear speakers, speakers, X n radio, of course, the hazard button like we talked about.
2:06So just yank all that out and we'll be good.
2:11We can do that.
2:12We can kind of compare side of ones very similar color when it comes to the silver, but wow, what a big difference in terms of screen quality.
2:20Quality.
2:21Now what's awesome with this head unit is all the events and stuff transfer over giving a nice OEM look.
2:27So we're just going to move all these events and hazard buttons and transfer it to the new one.
2:32Now just we have the events in.
2:35Don't forget the brackets and all that.
3:02everything is lining up, and shouts of that so we're making such a great
3:08great fit and so far so this is the only anise and we have the
3:13plug-and-play kit we actually have to get a if a plug-and-play kit
3:17because the variants throughout the years
3:22this harness on the right is for my car this
3:26This, this harness on the right is for my modelera year.
3:38the camera plug here is the one that would actually fit for the car and everything else sort of fits.
3:48Over here this Harness that originally came with this one is for the later model.
3:54Notice, this piece right here is slightly different.
3:59Those are all the materials that it comes with.
4:10transferred my air vents and the hazard
4:17button and let's plug it in. Before we do anything there's actually one thing I
4:22had to do was a trow and error
4:25thiss cable here, I, I wish it would fit in the plug, but it did not, but we need to
4:35this is actually the reverse trigger, so we we actually need to power this, and so
4:41I found out that it belongs in the red cable, and right here, red cable of this plug
4:52This is the gray plug, the red cable here, you see a little slit that I cut off just to
4:59try out and that one would actually trigger the the backup camera.
5:03So now we can still use the original stock backup camera even though the manufacturer said no.
5:09So here out the connections.
5:12Let's see here everything seems to be plugged in correctly and fits okay.
5:17Okay, these are the this one is for the reverse with the speed sensor so the reverse signal is the,
5:23the red cable that's connected to the the orange on the harness.
5:28And the one it's labeled back so that's how you trigger that's how it will trigger the cameras to turn on when you put your car reverse.
5:37These two plugs here, those are just left dangling.
5:42This one also is left dangling.
5:44This one is most likely the GPS or the Sears exam one or the other.
5:49So everything seems to be plugging in normally and let's put the rest, the rest together.
5:57So I got most of the cables plugged in for just sake of the recording I would just leave it like this for now,
6:04I'll organize it latering, I
6:33All right.
7:39Alright, so like right here, we're, gonna show you guys the reverse camera and front
7:48of the front camera installed yet, but the reverse camera you have it right
7:51here, and you can get, triggered by putting the car in reverse. So this is
7:55Right now it's pretty sleek., it's, cool that has, front, camera, and rear, camera
8:02You know that's gonna be super helpful, especially for a big, car like this forerunner
8:06It's gonna be easy to park for sure
8:25You
