Overview
John installs Dasaita's silver PX6 unit in a friend's base Camry. It brings Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi to a 12-year-old car, and the silver finish matches the dash almost perfectly. The box has good packaging and includes a Toyota-style harness that keeps the steering-wheel controls and dimmer, so there's no splicing, plus accessory leads and a 16GB microSD card. The back has HDMI out, radio, GPS and Wi-Fi ports. Removal is all trim work: the vents, two 10mm bolts, a Phillips screw, the shifter trim, the cigarette lighter area and two more bolts. Put the car in gear (engine off) to clear the shifter, then slide out the factory radio and HVAC. Plug in the main power, the 6-pin and the steering-control plug, plus the factory antenna and HVAC plug, and test. It cold-boots fast, and radio, Bluetooth and Android Auto all worked. The GPS antenna works fine stuck on top of the dash, the USBs come out by the shifter, and a mic goes in. Install took about an hour with filming. He rates the fit and finish 8/10 (the volume-down button sits a little tight) and the wiring 10/10 for ease.

Step by step
- 1
Check the box▶ 0:47
You get accessory harnesses (GPS, Wi-Fi, USB, mic), a Toyota-style harness that keeps the steering-wheel controls and dimmer, and the radio connection. No splicing needed.
- 2
Know the back of the unit▶ 2:35
Accessory ports, the main power/audio plug, HDMI out, radio antenna, GPS and Wi-Fi. A microSD slot sits on the side (a 16GB card was included).
- 3
Remove the lower vents and trim▶ 3:36
Ease the little vents out with a plastic trim tool and unclip the plug behind them. That exposes two 10mm bolts. Remove them.
- 4
Shifter trim▶ 4:11
Pull the next piece to reveal a Phillips screw, remove it, then pop the whole shifter trim out.
- 5
Clear the shifter▶ 5:21
With the car off, put the ignition on and shift into gear so you can pull the center section past the shifter. Unplug the cigarette lighter.
Warning: Put it back in Park before you start the car again.
- 6
Remove the radio and HVAC▶ 5:46
Remove the two bolts behind, then slide the radio and HVAC assembly out without scratching the dash on the metal brackets. Press the clips to release each plug.
- 7
Plug in the harness▶ 7:19
Don't be scared of the wires. Use the harness that fits. Plug in the main power cable, the 6-pin, and the steering-wheel-control plug.
- 8
Antenna and HVAC plugs▶ 9:25
The factory radio antenna plugs straight into the unit. Reconnect the HVAC plug to the new unit. Two leftover plugs may be for satellite radio.
- 9
First power-up▶ 11:02
Make sure the car is in Park, then turn it on. It boots to a Toyota logo, and the cold boot is quick. Leave the screen protector on during the install.
- 10
Test radio and Bluetooth▶ 12:08
The radio works right away. For Bluetooth, tap the search icon, pair your phone and play music through the Bluetooth app.
- 11
Test Android Auto▶ 14:23
Plug in a USB lead and open the Zlink app. Android Auto launches when you plug in the phone, and iPhones get CarPlay.
- 12
GPS, Wi-Fi, USBs and mic▶ 15:25
Screw on the Wi-Fi and GPS antennas. The GPS antenna works fine taped on top of the dash. Route the USBs where the owner can reach them and fish the mic through.
Tip: The unit has a built-in front mic, but the external mic sounds better.
- 13
Swap the mounting brackets▶ 16:59
To remove the factory unit from its brackets, slide it left and pull it out. Fit the new one the same way: line up the tabs, slide it in and screw it together.
- 14
Check the fit▶ 19:30
The silver color match is excellent. One area sits in a bit, and the volume-down button is a little tight, so fit and finish is about 8/10.
- 15
Program steering-wheel controls▶ 20:54
Assign volume up and down, next, previous and mode (John set mode to Home and also to mute, like the OEM unit), then save.
- 16
Dimmer and settings▶ 23:03
Check the dimmer. You can change the button color under Car → Element. Turn on auto-sleep so it doesn't fully shut off with the accessories.
- 17
Factory settings▶ 24:01
Factory settings (John enters 126) let you change the car logo, set the radio region to America, adjust the volume balance per source, and set CAN bus, key macros, camera, RGB panel LEDs and amp options.

0:00we have a you know popular popular all right so we have the head unit let's do
0:27Let's do some quick unboxing. The SIDA always has one of the better packaging when it comes
0:35So we have the head unit. Let's do some quick unboxing. The side always has one of the better packaging when it comes to just over all just like finish the car boards nice.
0:36Got the buyer's guide and you
0:38Got the good foam, of course, and this is a minute detail, but, you know, sometimes when I'm dealing with
0:44Android head units from other companies, they skip out a lot on packaging packaging.
0:48Then you start running into issues.
0:50We have the harnesses for just like the accessories, GPS, Wi-Fi antenna and so forth.
0:58You guys might be familiar if you guys follow the channel.
1:03Then you have the Toyota style, which is perfect because we're in a Toyota, Toyota
1:08style harness so you'll slow retain your steering wheel controls, dimmer
1:13switches and all that jazz and you have the radio antenna in there you can
1:17kind of see it so it's good that they include that that means you don't need
1:20splice and you know basically twist a bunch of stuff and I'm on solo today so
1:27let me just pull it out. Be careful. You got some user manuals in there.
1:31Be careful.
1:33You got some user manuals in there.
1:36There is the...
1:38Wow, it's very compact.
1:44Solid, well built.
1:46Wow, look at that.
1:48Got the screen protector.
1:50Everything matches.
1:52Look at that.
1:53OEM right.
1:54Which looks fine for time, but man, it's bringing this Camry.
1:59I think it's O8.
2:06and it's gonna look, wow, I'm kinda shocked.
2:09The silver finish that they have right here
2:11is a nice touch, making it pretty much blend
2:15into the interior of this car.
2:18And then you see the little bezels around the screen.
2:20It's like little touches like that,
2:21just really elevates the experience
2:23and just to fit and finish.
2:25Wow.
2:26so I'm kind of at all right now so wow and we're looking at the back of the
2:35unit you can see we have the accessory ports located right here very common and
2:41then you have the main basically everything right here audio the power
2:49You have an HDMI out which is awesome and then you have the radio and
2:57antenna and your GPS and your Wi-Fi right there.
3:00There.
3:01Moving on to the side, we do have.
3:04A micro SD card.
3:06Beautiful and lovely.
3:08And we have kind of like their certified cart.
3:15Like, hey, this is the side of product.
3:17Very cool.
3:18It's a nice sticker.
3:21Let's look at this micro SD card right here.
3:27Looks like they're giving us a 16 gig.
3:36First thing you want to do is remove these little vents.
3:37I'm using a plastic trim tool to just ease it out.
3:42And if you have a little carpet thing, and give it.
3:44Give it some room.
3:46Oh, it's a little adhesive.
3:48A little sticky right there.
3:50Take it off.
3:52Unplug these screws.
3:54Or at least this clip.
3:56Then
3:58Cause then you're going to see some 10 mils right here and we're just going to remove
4:01And then you're going toese some 10 mils.
4:04Right here.
4:05And we're just going to remove the 10 mils.
4:08Really simple.
4:09Let's get it.
4:10What I do after removing these two bolts, you take out this piece, you just pull it.
4:14And we'll reveal a phillips.
4:16You pull this.
4:17And we'll reveal the phillips.
4:19And we're just going to use our phillips to...
4:23What I do is you have to remove this whole shifter trim.
4:26so we're just going to unscrew it here.
4:30Because we're trying to pop this whole thing out.
4:32That's somewhere close.
4:38And it we're just going to try to pop this bad boy out.
4:41Of course be careful.
4:52It's sticky from human grime.
5:06Put that to the side.
5:07We're just going to pull this whole thing out because this part's still stuck.
5:13It's a huge pain but just put it to the side.
5:21The next thing you want to do is watch this.
5:24This the thing is in the way from this for you, yous can't really pull it out
5:28out.
5:29So let's put an ignition into gear, obviously the car is off so you can pull this out.
5:34Obviously the car is off.
5:36So you can pull this out.
5:40There's the cigarette lighter and all that stuff.
5:44And then you're going to reveal these plugs down here.
5:47Or these bolts that we need to remove.
5:50Alright so we removed the two bolts here.
5:52And we're just going to pull it out.
5:54The whole thing comes out.
5:55And I'll be careful of course.
5:57There are metal brackets holding this bad boy together.
6:00And you don't want to scratch anything.
6:04I'll show you the back of the head unit.
6:07Get this nice, metal bracket.
6:09And then you have all the plugs back there.
6:12Very cool, very cool.
6:14By unplugging these cables.
6:17There's a lot of trim pieces you need to remove for this on install.
6:27So you have...
6:37on the bottom, so you just have to press the clips, and then wiggle with whatever room you
6:43have. It's not a lot of clearance. Let's see if I can do this one. Not made too many plugs
6:55plugged into this one right here. That means the base model, and then you have your HVAC
7:02comes out. Let's get a bit of a look over here. So here you go. It's very heavy. All
7:14these tricked mounting systems. Look at that.
7:19So this is the probably the scariest part for most people who never installed a
7:23so a radio before is all these wires. Now, everything else has been pretty
7:27mechanical easy just pry and open very simple and now we're going to do something
7:36a little more technical these wires but the thing is the wires shouldn't be
7:40scared of them everything is wired for you and that makes it super easy so they're
7:48gonna give you two harnesses depending on what year you have and what you want
7:54use is use the one that pretty much just fits. So this one has a 28 pin and stuff
8:02like that. We're gonna use this one for now. This one Toyota lower powered and this one
8:10is the Toyota lower power cable too. So maybe they just give you two of the same
8:17cables. This one says volume 2. This one is volume 2 as well. We'll do the same
8:23stuff beautiful head unit and we're just gonna watch I'll show you guys I'm doing
8:30I'll show you this with one hand.
8:33This is the main power cable for the whole system.
8:36And just going to plug it in.
8:41One hand, it's a little bit tricky.
8:44Getting it into this little room.
8:47Come on.
8:48Boom! Look at that.
8:52And then we have the 6 pin right here.
8:57One hand again, it's pretty tricky.
9:03look how spew, look how easy it is, and then we have this last
9:07plug, this one's gonna handle steering wheel controls guys, come on, come on, come on,
9:13trying to do wires are moving and boom so that pretty much deals with
9:25everything and what you can see you notice how there is no the radio right
9:30You notice how there is no radio right here.
9:34Is not used in this case.
9:37Well, it
9:38it's because Toyota uses the same radio already.
9:42So you just plug it straight into the unit.
9:46And it should be fine.
9:56And so that's the only thing that we are not,
9:59that's unplugged is this, these two ones.
10:00these two ones. I'm guessing that this might be the like some kind of like
10:08another radio antenna or something like that for like XM radio. Not too sure what,
10:13what this wire does, but this one is the radio one. So we'll get to that. And
10:20remember this one was for the AC controls. So we're just gonna plug it in
10:25back to the unit. Let me elevate it a little bit for you guys. So there's the
10:30and back to the unit.
10:31So, so there's the back of this unit.
10:34And we're plugging it.
10:38Straighten it.
10:43Now I'm also going to plug in that radio because that's something I want to test.
10:46Goes right in, snug.
10:51Beautiful.
10:53And then we're going to put it back.
10:55Make sure your car is in part because we did move it.
11:01We're going to test,
11:03see if it turns on.
11:05Oh yes!
11:10It is on.
11:11And we got the super slick Toyota icon.
11:13We still have the screen protector,
11:15but let's keep that on there for the install.
11:17I mean, we don't,
11:18want to remove that while we're installing it,
11:20just in case we scratch the front element.
11:22But wow, yeah.
11:23So this is going to be the cold boot.
11:25It's booting very fast for the first time.
11:27Looking good.
11:28Remember,
11:29if you are booting this every day or every week,
11:32or every week kind of take two seconds it won't take like that 12 seconds that
11:36do we get up we got audio boys so we and followed by many other things
11:49very cool I'm happy very happy very happy all right let's try out the blue
11:59tooth and the radio let's try the radio right now
12:08see, the steering wheel controls will work out right off the bat, steering wheel
12:12controls are not working let's see if we can program that program that later
12:19Radio is working.
12:21Bluetooth, to
12:31it shows you what the name is.
12:33Let's name it.
12:39Pin number.
12:40What's a Bluetooth
12:43available pair.
12:45Hit this little magnifying glass right there.
12:51It's going to be searching and
12:54it sees my phone right there.
12:57Let's see if I can just
13:00link it up.
13:03My phone sees it.
13:04It says put the password in
13:06and look, my phone's paired.
13:11Very nice.
13:13Let's play a song.
13:14Let's go to the Bluetooth app.
13:24Then turn up the volume because we had it off.
13:26Then we get next.
13:31hit off.
13:32Then we hit Next.
13:34Sounds good.
13:37So, so Bluetooth is working awesome.
13:40So that's a really good test to see.
13:41Like the most, like the main things people look for
13:45, is Bluetooth radio, you know,
13:47what a car here stairs should do,
13:50Bluetooth radio, some bone and touches is Android auto.
13:53So we're gonna test that next.
13:54You remember the accessory bag we had earlier?
13:57This has your USBs as well as GPS antenna,
14:00but we're gonna just mess with the USBs right now
14:03because we want to see if Android auto is working.
14:05Um, this user here is an Apple user though.
14:09but I don't have an iPhone so I can't tell you.
14:14Can't tell you.
14:20But we're going to test that when he gets here too.
14:23So let's plug into the USB little section right here.
14:28Be careful of course don't scratch anything.
14:31And then we're going to fire this bad boy back up.
14:35Alright, so we have the Z-linked open. Look at that Android Auto and let's just plug in our phone.
14:41This user is an Apple iPhone user which is completely compatible too, so we'll have that
14:47set up too. We'll show you guys the Apple CarPlay. This is what Android Auto looks like on my front end.
14:54sure and boom we have Android Auto be new depending on what your phone has so your phone has the
15:08the new Android Auto you're gonna have the new Android Auto pretty much Google is pushing
15:14out these updates as we speak so you're gonna get the new Android Auto you're gonna get
15:18all that cool stuff so sweet so yeah Android Auto works and there's music
15:25playing voice so we installed the Wi-Fi antenna which is a couple of just a
15:32screw we installed the GPS which is another again just a screw you can
15:36place this anywhere I had good luck just having it right on top here so you
15:40can just pretty much take this tape off this double-sided tape and just
15:44stick it right here. The signal is actually really good just right right here. You can move it up top
15:49and stuff like that, but yeah, good luck just right here. Furthermore, we have the USB's plugged into
15:56the back. I have a USB kind of snaking through here and it goes down here you
16:03kind of see it there and then we have two going to the USBs. The owner never
16:10really specified where he wanted it so I just kind of had it right there. He's a
16:14buddy of mine, pretty sure he prefers convenience so you have your USBs
16:20right here. I think he's gonna use that one the most because well it's really
16:24easy to get to and we
16:28have the microphone installed too we have a one little microphone right there
16:31and we have it snaked through here and then speed and then we're
16:35gonna twist tie things and wrap it up and make it look nice and good
16:38other than that that's all the features you need and the next is just finished with the AC unit
16:54Let me, I'm gonna have to use two hands on this.
16:59All right, so to remove this part, it was pretty,
17:03you can remove these brackets to just,
17:05basically you move the head unit left
17:08and then you can pull the straight thing out
17:10and to lock it in.
17:11This isn't from you facing forward,' forward.
17:13You pull the units on here,
17:17you pull it left and then you take you take it out
17:19and when you put it put it back in,
17:20you put it in and you put it right.
17:23I don't know it's not a good explanation but yes we got this bad boy out and I'm gonna
17:27push show you guys how to put the new one in the new one so many plugs let's unplug this
17:34bad boy kind of sucks because we spent so much time so line up the tabs that's
17:45how it is when it slide in now they are the gaps are pretty good not too
17:50big about fingering the count on the sides about fingernail and let's screw
17:57this bad boy back together and move on from there. Alright so we plugged in the
18:00So we plugged in the main harness.
18:07We're plugging the USBs.
18:09The antenna is a little bit short so we're going to leave that last microphone
18:14in here so we can get that better voice quality.
18:19There's already a microphone in the front
18:21but just having two is just elevates it.
18:24Now you want to hook up the
18:26not very far so
18:29hook up that
18:31while snaking all the wires in the back
18:34the radio antenna
18:37is difficult.
18:40Don't forget to climb controls
18:43and the rest is just going to be me re-installing this.
18:48It's-boys-
19:18It is boys, looking really good a this is the OEM launcher I mean overall this is a pretty
19:37really like the paint finish I see this it's actually like spot on like the match is insanely
19:44good like I'm surprised that they can get it this closely like matched as far
19:50as the fitment it's really it's good right here right here and then right here
19:54it does go in a little bit that could be my installation but the OEM one
20:01one didn't fit that great anyways too I'm really happy with right here where
20:06like I think it matters a little more is super nice like there is very little
20:12gaps like perfect. Sitting from here you can't really tell anything really but
20:19yeah it looks really nice. As far as controls and everything this volume
20:27down is a little bit intrusive next to this little thing but I mean it still
20:33works and yeah so fit and finish I would give it like an 8 out of 10 the
20:40installation overall just wiring everything 10 it tends to be easy to do
20:44you guys saw me do it and you make them do it especially the wiring it's pretty
20:49wired for you. Now let's check out the steering wheel controls because each
20:54Toyota is different so let's add two steering wheel controls. Hopefully this
21:00works. Volume up. Yes so volume up. Let me get it a little bit wider so you guys can
21:07see. Volume down. This is something I should of tested beforehand but thank
21:14goodness it works next previous did I skip it previous and then we have mode
21:34previous
21:38and then we have mode
21:40press mode
21:44mode can go home
21:46and then
21:48we'll do mode again
21:50and just like the OEM one
21:55we can do that too
21:57we're gonna save that
21:59and now we should have volume up controls
22:00should have volume controls. Beautiful, beautiful. This, this car doesn't have a
22:05backup camera but if you didr wanted to put a backup camera you can. Yeah, and Android Auto
22:15and everything works. You guys saw that earlier. So beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
22:23Anyways, if you guys were looking to buy the Camry's head units from the side of the
22:28This is top specs right here. This is using the PX6
22:32Android 9.0 with the
22:35RK3399 which is
22:36which is again the PX6
22:39CPU is a hexacore
22:42Just super quick the dual cores that are in a different
22:48Cluster is really quick and then you have 4 gigs of RAM just top top top specs and
22:53and uh yeah I mean there's nothing more you really want to ask for you can play games on this and
22:58stuff like that no problems if that's something you're into but like you're never going to feel
23:03slowdowns dimmer switch you definitely want to check that out boom dimmer switches it's blue you
23:08can change this color in the settings it's going to be under car um there's element
23:12steering wheel controls amplifiers driving settings extra settings it's going to be under
23:16element and it should change there you go so depending on what he wants like
23:23let's say that's a camber color or something like that you can change it
23:27I'm gonna keep it blue because um let's just default and the car is kind of
23:32like blueish color steering controls amplifiers driver settings yes I want to
23:38watch videos when I'm driving don't take that away from me extra
23:42settings are kind of interesting. Auto shut down when accessories off. I like to
23:48keep an auto sleep so it it knows it doesn't just always turn off. That's super
23:52nice. And music player. That is
23:58battery voltage. Some extra settings. If you go to factory settings, if you ever
24:01ever get to this installation part 1, 2, 6, okay. Should boot up all this. This
24:08is more like the advanced settings. So let's punch in a little bit. You can
24:15change your car logo, radio. It defaults to Europe, but let's go to America. I
24:22think the highest is 107.9. Then there's voice. You can individually tune
24:29different sounds to be louder than the others. Can bus if your car head
24:35unit and stuff is like hooked up to your car the curls have it this ear
24:39camera does not have that key panel study and stuff like that this is if you
24:44want to can configure macros for this so instead of home it goes like to GPS
24:49or something like that you can do that here and then
24:52additional settings front camera app and still RGB panel LED type of course my
25:01LED amp, car battery, 12 volts.
25:05I'm gonna exit here.
