Yes — you can install Dasaita on the Toyota Camry 2007–2011 with a 30 min DIY job. Pull the shifter trim and dash bezel, swap the factory radio for a Dasaita unit with three plugs, and set up the LED, steering and logo settings.
Overview
John installs a Dasaita CarPlay unit in a friend's 2009 Camry. The dash comes apart with hand pulls and four 10mm bolts. On the new unit side it's really just the main harness, the AM/FM adapter and the climate plug. The unit is held in by the trim clips rather than the OEM brackets, which don't line up. He finishes with a tour of the settings: LED colour, steering controls, video while driving and a custom boot logo.

Tools & parts
Tools
- Small Phillips screwdriver
- Pry tool or flat head (optional; hands work for most trim)
- 10mm socket with extension, ratchet or impact
- Microfiber towel to protect the dash
Parts
- Dasaita head unit and harnesses
- Wi-Fi / 4G antennas
- USB extensions (one routed to the glovebox)
Step by step
- 1
Remove the shift knob▶ 3:29
Unscrew it (lefty loosey) and set it on the passenger seat.
- 2
Pull the console trim▶ 3:58
Grab and pull the trim piece; two plastic clips. That reveals two Phillips screws. Remove them and keep them in the cup holder.
- 3
Release the lower trim▶ 4:56
Pry the trim around the shifter slowly by hand. There are three clips up top and two at the bottom; start near the shifter, away from the stress point.
- 4
Clear the shifter▶ 5:45
With the parking brake engaged, press the shifter button to move it, then pull the shifter-surround trim straight up from the seam. Twist the cigarette lighter wiring aside rather than unplugging.
Warning: Keep the parking brake on whenever you move out of Park.
- 5
Unplug the ports and remove the lower 10s▶ 8:17
Squeeze the clips on the port plugs and pull them out. That exposes two 10mm bolts at the bottom of the radio.
- 6
Pry the top vent bezel▶ 10:12
Go easy so you don't mark the dash. Behind it are two more 10mm bolts; remove them.
- 7
Pull the radio▶ 12:29
Only clips are left, so pull it out with a towel underneath. Unplug three radio plugs, two antennas and the gray A/C plug below.
- 8
Connect the Dasaita harness▶ 14:52
Plug in the 10-pin and main harness (with the steering-control wires) and the AM/FM adapter. Leftover plugs are for other model years, so you don't need them if your car doesn't.
- 9
Antennas and first boot▶ 16:33
Screw the Wi-Fi antenna and the 4G antenna (red cap) into the right ports, plug in the black main plug and AM/FM, then key on. It boots straight into wireless CarPlay.
- 10
Accessories▶ 19:22
Route a USB to the glovebox so a wired phone still works. RCA outs for a subwoofer and camera inputs are on the back. John kept the external mic in the box since the built-in mic sounded about the same.
- 11
Clip it in▶ 21:19
The OEM brackets don't align, so the unit is held by the trim clips top and bottom. Line up the clips with some finesse and push it home; the colour matches the dash well.
- 12
Reinstall the top vent▶ 23:21
Plug in the vent port and make sure the vents still move. Latch the top piece in firmly, since it helps hold the head unit.
- 13
Settings tour▶ 26:32
Car settings → LED to change the button colour (John chose white to match the cluster). Enable steering controls and video while driving. Factory settings password 126 lets you change the boot logo.

0:00What's up guys? It's your boy John. Today we're going to take a look at the Toyota Camry.
0:06Now this is one of the most popular cars here in the United States.
0:09So we know we got to take another one review and another peak.
0:12This is using the latest and greatest specs from the CIDA.
0:16I already- I already kind of took it out of here just so I can one hand it for you guys a little bit
0:19little bit easier.
0:20Already know that the box is looking good. The Cider printed.
0:27And then when you open it we have this piece. That kind of went over it and then of course
0:34you have the little lid. This is the good foam. None of that styrofoam. Good foam to protect the
0:39units. Why is it important to have good packing materials? Because look at these
0:43edges right here on the products you definitely don't want to chip. Let's say that little bracket
0:49right there. So it's very important. The next thing is we have the harnesses.
0:59Now something a little bit new that I've been noticing is the CIDA has been upping their game when it
1:04comes to packaging. Look at this. They have their own little bags. It says
1:10power spe's. It says power cables and accessory cables. So it is labeled
1:14and it's labeled and it's in the CID of the CIDA blue. Maybe kind of. Next the next package
1:22package is well I guess it's not labeled but this is going to be the main harnesses that connects
1:26the
1:36and we have a dash cam. So, let's see, what's this blue box and we have a we have dash
1:41a dash cam that I also ordered. So, if you're looking to get a reverse camera, boom, we have it right here.-
1:47not sure if I'm going to have enough time to do the reverse camera but I'll see if I can hook
1:51hook it up at least that way you can see the quality
1:55, the camera I'm going to be working on is my friend's camera. You can already tell it's getting kind of
2:00darker right here in California. It's about 6 pm. It's going to be a little bit darker. So that's why I'm
2:05saying that I probably don't have time to do the reverse camera but we'll see if I have enough.
2:13Real quick before we do the install, I just want to show the S3 wallet right here. I've been
2:17been using it for about 2 weeks now and I've been loving it. It holds all my car. It has an air tag
2:23holder. It also has some accessories. If you don't want to use an air
2:53holder, we have a screwdriver right here. We have some kind of pry tool. You don't need this but,
3:00but you can use a flat head too. But to remove some trim pieces, I have a 10 millimeter. You can use a
3:0710 millimeter socket, of course, or yeah, you probably want to use a 10-millimeter socket.
3:13Then I have an 8mm, an extension. Just sometimes it's going to be a little bit
3:17cavernous. In my case, I'm going to use an impact but you can use just a ratchet.
3:24So this is going to be my setup. It's not too crazy in parts. Most of this stuff is your
3:29everyday kind of things. First thing you need to do is you can remove the shift knob.
3:37You're going to have to remove this whole trim piece. I know it sounds kind of frightening
3:41but it's very easy. So to unscrew unscrew, you left a loosey. That bad boys comes out. So put that
3:53somewhere safe. You want to put it on the passenger seat. Next thing off is you just pull for this.
3:58You just grab it and pull. And, there are two clips. they're just plastic clips. So looking too
4:05strong. Grab and pull. And that's going to reveal two Phillips screws, which we will have to unscrew.
4:13So get the tool. This is a little small one. So I had a little more of a smaller of a smaller.
4:22I like using small screwdrivers because inside a car, there's not a lot of room. These screws
4:28you
4:29want to keep in a the safe place. Usually I put these in a cup holder. I'm just going to put in a cup holder
4:37because it does have a door so maybe it won't get lost. So now you can pull this out.
4:43But you have this trim down here blocking it. So I don't know you see that., you see the
4:56trim piece. It's this trim piece right here, not the bottom one. So you get this trim piece and I
5:03just use my hands but you can pry it. It open kind of slowly like this. I'll show you where the clips are
5:10so it makes more sense. So there you go. The clips, there's three clips up here and there's the two clips
5:17that. You kind of put it down and it goes in. I like starting from here. So you,
5:25you saw where I pulled it from around this shifter because these clips right here are a lot
5:31away from the and it's away from the spray point. So now that with that piece gone
5:36we
5:36can go further. All right so the next step is we can try to pull this out but we're going to have
5:45issues with this shifter. So with this shifter a lever here you're going to see a little button
5:50right here., now make suret your car is in, it's in park right now but parking brake
5:57engage and parking brake is on the left of your brake pedal. Have that push down because when you shift
6:03to into gear you I mean you're not you're not in parking it more. So keep that
6:11in mind too when you start your car sometimes other cars will detect that and they won't
6:17bother you with it but so you're going to have that and we're going to have to remove this
6:25trim too. So I'm not using the plastic tool trim I'm just using my hands. You really don't need it
6:42for this car and what I pulled was right here there's a little gap right here a little seam
6:51and it's kind of hard to get in camera you just pull that out. Now there is wires for the
7:02cigarette lighter but boom look at that. All the guts exposed. Exposed I know the light is
7:12a little bit harsh but you know bear with me the clips on this right here if you guys have a hard time
7:21is right here and this is where I pulled in this section right here where it's a little bit
7:27weaker. These clips aren't as strong as these yellow clips right here so try to pull from
7:32this one and I pulled from both sides straight up. Okay so now that we had that out of the way
7:45you don't have to unplug it you can just kind of twist it like this
7:49and then we just have to remove this piece right here. The reason why we had to remove
7:53this. This piece right here which just slide out a little bit and then you
8:07just feel at the time not so much anymore. Now these are these ports are held by clips
8:17so there's a little plugs on the back of them. This is how the plugs look like and you can see there's little clips
8:35there's little clips and you just squeeze it and pull the cable out, squeeze it pull the cable out
8:40and I was saying this now reveals the two 10 millimeter bolts down here.
8:48so we've finally got it. What holds this head unit together is two 10s
8:54right here and two 10s above here and that's it so all right so you can see that this is a point of view
9:06so we're looking in a 10 somewhere around here and a 10 somewhere around here there's two of them
9:14remove those and we is done on the bottom.
9:21Bada boom, bada beam, one more to go, your fingers and tada that's exactly what you want.
9:42good thing I'm going to make sure you don't lose these in the cavern now the top
10:12very careful you're gonna have to pry this open somehow without damaging your dash so just kind
10:22of go easy at first see how the dash takes it so it's because of Toyota and the quality on their
10:34dash this one seems good I kind of taking it slow
10:42my little
11:39is going to give you that there you go and make sure it's clipped onto here there you go
11:50so yeah I would say that's the hardest part and the most great is there is no damage to the
11:58dash and get close up so you guys can see it reveals two 10s right there
12:07see I think I'm bright enough for you guys can see one two so let's
12:14remove those and we should be golden all right so after you remove the two bolts up top in the
12:29two bolts down below this is where things go a little more you think it's put some muscle
12:36to it we call this the pray and pull that just means be careful when you're pulling it
12:42nothing else is holding it besides clips and you just pull which I just did
12:47now I like to put a little microfiber towel to kind of help any like if it falls down or
12:52something like that it protects like the paint here so you just pull it down
12:59and that just the plugs now it's in an awkward angle so I am going to the have
13:05to just pull it out and you guys are just going to do that on your own without me
13:10can really seeing it but I will pull one two three so there's three plugs on the head unit
13:29and then now there's two more antennas on the head unit so one two and then don't forget we also
13:36messing with the AC down below so- so we're gonna have to plug the AC which is a gray plug
13:46and walla that's it so let me show you guys again there's I know this shows four but there was three
13:57plugs here two antennas and then we have the AC now your car might vary because this is a us model
14:06and
14:06there's also always a lot of different configurations but for my configurations that's how it was
14:13all right fast forward to the present we are in the Camry with the the side of head unit and
14:22here is the bare bones now let me talk about what you need to plug in to your Camry this is
14:29very important it's very simple now let me try to get the stabilized so you guys can see it without
14:38he's shaking so much okay so the harnesses that you plug in or the ports it's just like
14:52Lego pieces you have the 10 the 10 pin right here which plugs in no problem
15:03imagine in
15:33steering wheel controls look at these three wires you
15:35wires I know it's not filling it all away but that's all you need to get the steering
15:40and controls to work this the on this goes into the back of the head unit so I have three things plugged
15:46in that's it three things you might ask what's this why does it go to nothing you don't need
15:54it because if your car doesn't need it then you don't need it they have extras because
15:59of the model years Toyota does slightly change things now what you do need is this one
16:04right here you see how there's a small one and there's a big one this one is for
16:08am and FM radio so you just plug that bad boy to the back of the head unit and you'll be fine
16:15so imagine you're gonna be plugging these two things in the back
16:19for pretty much controlling everything
16:22let's move on to the back of the head unit it elaborate a little
16:26bit more so so
16:29this is the back of the decided or the front the decided head unit
16:33and you want to screw in the wi-fi antenna right there that's gonna give
16:40you oops it's in the wrong spot so there's a 4g one this is why we do
16:47this video and this one has the little red little cap over it just put that aside
16:53and you want to plug that in right there plug and then screw it in
17:02bad a being bad a boom we are good
17:05now get that nice and snug I think it's under tight and now that black plug
17:11you plug it it into the back right here and then the AMF radio I want to plug everything in
17:18um and then I'll turn it on and we can go over the interface okay
17:25some AMF radio we are gonna do the black wire right here
17:35this is pretty much the main thing, and there's some loose ends but don't worry
17:42there's the bottom right there that's for your climate now with just those two things plugged in
17:47we're going to have some magic happen let's get the keys in there so this is going to be the cold
18:08boot let me see this android now you can change this emblem or brand to a Toyota badge by going to
18:21the advanced settings and I got to say this head unit right here right aside is so bright
18:32which is exactly what you want you want to drown in that sunlight I like
18:35the UI by the side again super smooth let me go over the specs real quick
18:43whoo this thing's quick, now it automatically goes to apple car play exactly what you want you
18:51can hear it there you go so we're skipping it right there and it's going to the next song
19:04great I'm kpop shout out to you Annie for listening to some good old kpop I don't even know
19:08is it kpop or even a me to be honest I'm not sure okay I don't know who's listening to music
19:14but after that we can the accessories because everything is working the way it should
19:22which is beautiful usb we're going to put some usb in the glove box that way if she needs a
19:28charger phone or if the wireless ain't not working on her phone she to directly plug it in
19:35and it'll still work and to do that we just plug it into the back right right there so that's us
19:40bees let me go over here so if you have a subwoofer or anything like that you can plug it into
19:47these rca jacks sub so rca into and also the camera in as well just super cool we have
20:00this is the orgy antenna microphone and uh there's- and there an microphone on here already which I did
20:10a test and honestly the microphone is huge it just uses this microphone but if you want it really
20:17close to your face you can put
20:19here and then talk to it that's not something I do honestly because after I did the little
20:24tests and it sounds so similar I don't even bother this is for the ox which we're not going to
20:34mess with more 4g antennas and then the sim card which we don't really need and then more usb
20:43can you can so I'm gonna plug those in right now and then we will go over it's
20:49alright so I just fish the usb's over there let's get that test fit again I have the rca
20:57which I which I'm not using but I'm just just to keep it a little organized just in case the customer
21:03wants to move with that again front camera probably not going to use it but I'm just
21:09putting that right there and I'm gonna be keeping the microphone and stuff like that
21:13just in a box so they can just use it but you pretty much just snug it back
21:19here now the one ding that will come up is what about the brackets
21:26how does it stay in now that's like it's gonna be held with just the clips
21:33which some people don't like but the brackets just don't the oem brackets don't really align
21:39and f and on honestly just like this without like the clips in it's on there pretty good already
21:44just by friction of making sandwich right here that's just how it is
21:51so we gonna lock it in right here you're gonna have to pull that out so it's gonna be
22:00clipped in in the front the top and then clipped in at the bottom and that's what's
22:04gonna really hold the head unit together
22:33gets a client control action going and
22:37line up the clips so it clips in nicely so this is going to require some finesse to be honest
22:57there you go so it clips in now the color actually, actually matches pretty nicely
23:14nine out of, I might, the you might be more sensitive to the color finish
23:21alright let's do the vent up top make sure when you remove these vents that everything's still
23:28kind of moves we just have to plug that that little port and turn it off and this again
23:43this is where how we kind of latch it in so you definitely want to make sure it's clipped in and
23:50latched in nicely because this actually helps hold the head unit together at the top push that in
24:14a little bit more get that fitment looking good then the rest I'm gonna do to kind of dial it in
24:23alright so the head unit is
24:53the settings because I want to show you the specs it's using this is the QC M6125 model using
24:59android 12 kernel MCU I am you all that stuff it's got it's got two quad cores that octa core processor
25:08right there you got the a 73 2.2 0 gigahertz I'm assuming and then you get the cortex a 53 with the with
25:16the 1.8 6 gigs around come on come on that's just too much for a head unit but they pack it in that's amazing
25:27okay I got the iPhone 15 pro max and this this display is crispy I'm
25:32but I'm telling you guys this I why why is it so comparable how was it how is the apples
25:40display comparable to display this IPS now I'm not gonna铆say the old tech is worse but I'm saying that if
25:49you the the crispiness the colors pop the
26:09these android head unit manufacturers are doing it's crispy and oh yeah I gotta show you this
26:17when you turn on the headlights oh we got the dark mode right now we got the RGB but you could set that
26:26let me show you guys let me show you guys that how to change to that while we're I don't think so
26:32say I got the RGB could be in the car it's led settings right here so let's change it to
26:41white just changing the white keep it classy I think thesec these things are
26:45kind of like this green color if we want to match but let's just keep it white because
26:50the cluster is white which is kind of nice for 2009 good on you Toyota
26:54oh wow I got to see this whoo oh that is that's it but let's just do a little a little
27:06bright mode just so you can actually what you what's easier to see
27:10and maybe dark was a little bit easier to see for you guys all right so we were looking at the
27:17about machines you had all of this stuff stopped at Ip address all that stuff is good
27:23so there's Wi-Fi and of course there's all that goodness but we want to be even more car settings
27:33enable
27:35of course we want to enable that steering controls amplifier settings let's get driving settings
27:39watching video I want to watch some videos while I'm driving
27:51have auto sleep brightness mode, auto, playing music, reverse all that stuff so that's all good
27:58factory settings let's see if the 126 password is good it is and you can change your car logo
28:08right here you can use it use it custom one right here if you like
28:14you're dancing icon we're not going to mess with the too much of that stuff
28:22but you can add your own logo if you please amazing so good job the site for having such an
28:33amazing head unit the UI is by far my favorite sometimes the UI have you ever like a pioneer
28:40or any of those guys their UI is out of date I mean look at this background it is straight fire
28:47reminds me of copy apple okay because this looks exactly like apple if you would ask me
28:53and of course we have apple right here like that would you read that boom we have a car play with maps
28:59capture all your tools and stuff like that oh my gosh look how punchy the colors are
29:05amazing if you were interested in this product I'll leave the links down below of this insane
29:10product I know I'm sounding like I'm gassing it up but seriously this is by far one of my
29:15favorite this looks like a 1440p display it's like 1080p to 1440p
29:23like the 1080p shrunk down to this I can
29:45it, smooth buttery smooth but yeah that's going to wrap it up. Thank you guys for watching
29:50I'll catch you guys in the next one peace
