Part 2 of the Corolla install: transfer the hazard button and yellow clips, trim tabs for a flush fit, then a tour of the steering-wheel key mapping, reverse audio, AirPlay mirroring, DSP sound, vehicle info and car settings. This 21 min guide covers the Dasaita unit made for the Toyota Corolla 2014 2015 2016, left-hand drive only with tools, parts.
Overview
This follow-up to the wiring video covers the fit and the software. Move the hazard button and the other clip-in switches from the old trim to the new one (one needs a flathead to release its clips), and transfer the four yellow clips so the unit clips onto the dash. On this 2015 the new panel sat about a centimeter too far out, so John snapped off three plastic tabs that were hitting it and shaved a little off the top to close a 1 mm gap. After that the fit was very good. In the settings you can remap the steering wheel buttons, turn on fast-boot sleep mode, autoplay from USB, keep music playing in reverse, and pick the button light color (blue to match the Corolla). AirPlay screen mirroring from an iPhone works through the EasyConnect app as a display only. The PX6 has internal DSP, and the bass hits hard even at low volume. Vehicle info shows fuel economy and tire pressure (in kPa). The car settings page covers auto lock and unlock, daytime running lights and other options. Specs: 64 GB storage plus a 16 GB microSD, and the RK3399 PX6 chip, which John calls the fastest head unit processor at the time. He doesn't recommend the slow PX3. The links from the video description are below, plus the current Dasaita Corolla 2014–2016 unit in Dasaita's store.

Tools & parts
Tools
- Flathead screwdriver
- Plastic pry tool
- Sandpaper or a file (to shave the trim for a flush fit)
Parts
- Dasaita Corolla 2014–2016 head unit (from part 1)
- Factory hazard button and switches (transferred)
- Four yellow mounting clips (transferred)
Step by step
- 1
Transfer the switches▶ 0:23
The hazard button and most switches pop out and clip into the new trim. One is held by clips that need a flathead.
- 2
Unplug and test-fit▶ 2:13
John unplugged everything to fit the dash more cleanly. Be careful with the screen if you've already removed the protector.
- 3
Transfer the yellow clips▶ 3:20
Move the four yellow clips to the new unit so it clips onto the dash and stays put.
- 4
Fix the gap▶ 3:51
Tabs behind the panel were hitting, so it sat about 1 cm out. John snapped off three tabs and shaved the top to close a 1 mm gap.
- 5
Steering controls▶ 5:35
Volume and song skip work. Settings > Car > Steering wheel keys lets you remap any button.
- 6
Useful settings▶ 6:30
Fast-boot sleep mode, autoplay from USB, and reverse audio so music keeps playing while backing up.
- 7
Button lights and launcher▶ 8:04
Pick the light color (blue matches the Corolla) and choose a home screen layout.
- 8
AirPlay mirroring▶ 9:23
EasyConnect mirrors an iPhone screen over AirPlay. It's display only, so you can't control the phone from the unit.
- 9
DSP sound▶ 12:03
The PX6's internal DSP drives the speakers harder. Bass hits even at low volume, and the EQ lets you add more.
- 10
Vehicle info▶ 14:28
Fuel economy history and tire pressure (shown in kPa) come from the car.
- 11
Car settings▶ 15:47
Auto lock when shifting out of park, auto unlock in park, daytime running lights and more.
- 12
Specs and verdict▶ 18:30
64 GB storage plus a 16 GB microSD and the RK3399 PX6 chip. Smooth performance and great sound. Skip PX3 units, which are too slow.
Wiring notes
- No new wiring beyond part 1. John unplugged the harnesses temporarily to seat the unit cleanly.

0:00so we have a Toyota Corolla this is a very popular model and we have Marilyn here she is
0:07going to be the helper here so that's all all the wires you need
0:14man so the first time you turn it oh so it does it do the doors open all right so we had the
0:24dash trim that so we're gonna have to transfer this track over to the new one
0:29so far it looks like you just you just plop it out and we're gonna have to reuse these switches too so
0:33So for an example, it's this hazard button. It just comes right out and you just kind of transfer to your new one
0:39Go this way. Okay. There you go. I'm set out. So you still you it looks nice nice fit mint
0:45It just clamps right in no issues there
0:48Same with this one right here.
0:50I don't know how to pop it out. Okay, this one's a little bit more involving where there the clips
0:54So you probably need to use a flat head for this part
0:56But as far as these other ones, it looks like it's just held-held by clips and we
1:04plopping it out it's kind of messy there you go so we're gonna transfer this the new one
1:14and uh she's wondering if this will fit um it should it should it's tailored for this car of
1:25hoping that in 2018 or whatever they didn't change it and stuff like that so we're still gonna reuse this
1:32and this trim we're gonna save for our old unit we just need to pop this out which is a little
1:39more engaging so we'll get to that there's just these two little like little clips right here that extrudes out
1:45and I just use a use a flat head to remove it you don't have to remove these inner ones just the
1:50outer ones you got two right here and you got two right there so this whole piece comes off
1:54and remember we're we're gonna reuse this so we're gonna plop it in the back of this head unit
2:00right here oh that was a good snap so you got that good fitment what do you think just like
2:07oem right it's not it looks like it belongs there it's not like it's not supposed to belong there
2:13sweet so so that's pretty much it uh I'm gonna unplug all the plugs we just did so we can install the
2:18dash a little bit cleaner so shouldn't be too hard there's no real clips that go in right here
2:28just the bottom ones huh one would think that it would be so simple as just put it in like this
2:34that it would be it would be as simple as just put it in like this.
2:47We definitely want to be careful with the screen since we went full
2:51ham and took off the screen protector before we finished installing it.
3:00Alright we'll try to figure it out and then we'll show you.
3:03We'll show you.
3:04All right, check it out.
3:05So the fitment is insanely good.
3:09It's just as good as and we're going to just plop it in
3:14and see how it looks like.
3:15Fitment, it has to be the key.
3:18So let's get it forgot to mention
3:20is there's these four yellow clips,
3:23these nice yellow clips that we need to transfer
3:25over to the new unit.
3:27That way it will clip on and it will stay on.
3:30um so yeah to to redo the clips you just simply you can use a flat head I don't know if I can use
3:35my finger but it's just it just come off like this so now we have this clip right here and we
3:44put it right here the now it can clip on without having any issues you want good fitment boys
3:51when I was trying to fit this this part wasn't laying flush to this
3:54and you can actually see little marks right here where there was these tabs that were just hitting it
3:58so I actually just snipped off the uh I just snapped it off there's there was one two three I don't
4:05know if your variation right here might be different than what I have but for my case you
4:09you can kind of see this was hitting it and there was one right here and there was also one that
4:13that was kind of like hitting it right here so I removed that and this should help with the fitment
4:18because it was about a centimeter of too far out and it was just making the fitment all wonky
4:23around this area so yeah it's so I had to shave it a little, a little bit more up the top right
4:28there it fit but it had like a millimeter gap and now we can't do that so we shaved it a little
4:33millimeter gap and you know we can't do that so we shaped it a little bit here and
4:38hopefully we should have a good fitment because we're having it like
4:43issues around this area. So we do have it fully cl
4:46clipped in some of these clips
4:50we had to break off for that best fitment but you check out this line
4:53right here so definitely when you want when you're working with this make
4:56the fitment line right there it's definitely the most tricky on your what
4:59you have a 2015 soe 2015 parola how to like break those clips off but other
5:03to like break this clips off but other than that the fitment is good um it's it's in here good there's
5:09multiples uh there's four clips and then two additional ones that we have hooked up to the dash
5:14and then you have the oem ones that clip around the top too so yeah look at that let's close it
5:22wow alright guys so we have the head unit fully installed nice and good fitment but we
5:31Wow!
5:35All right, so we have the head unit fully installed,
5:38nice and good fit, but we want to make sure everything is working.
5:43So the first thing, let's try steering with, volume up, volume down.
5:48Let's go back to the Bluetooth, because we need to try out Song Skip and all that.
5:54So Song Skip, let's go back.
5:58There you go, cool.
6:01I don't know, there's a lot of buttons on our heart for things.
6:03Exactly what they do but we can check so let's hit pause.
6:10Get work just make the longer down.
6:12For you that so you're like hey, I don't know what these buttons do or I want, I want to change it
6:16I want this button to be like, I don't know home button or whatever and under the settings Marilyn you go settings back to car.
6:24You see how it says steering wheel controls or keys you can
6:28map it to whatever you want.
6:44it's there if you don't want to watch youtube or you're driving um extra settings what this is
6:50let's do auto sleep so what this is is it basically means like when you turn your car on
6:56um how does the head of? the head and it instantly but
6:57how the head unit instantly we remember when we
7:00this makes your car put in sleep-in-sleep mode so when it turns it on it's real fast
7:05allow play you we can just keep that on if you plug in a USB that has music in it
7:09it automatically starts playing it reverse X-Mirr, reverse volume
7:13do you want to have your when you
7:18you press the brakes so when you put in reverse do you want it to have audio
7:25Do you want it to have audio?
7:28Yeah, so let's just have it.
7:32Right now it's the off, which is kind of like, there's a thing where people who are more focused
7:40when you back up, you're at your most vulnerable spot, so the head unit can automatically turn
7:45off the music for you until you're put into drive.
7:49we turn it on because we want sound, we don't want to, when you're reversing you still have your spew your music on, we don't want the volume to be off
7:58parking display, I don't think you have any of that stuff, so yeah, let's not worry about that
8:04other than that that, that's pretty much it, we already checked up on the elements, so there's different colors
8:09with the corolla it is a blue interior so let's go with the blue lights
8:13Yeah, so do you have any questions when it comes to the head unit?
8:41so this what this is it's called a launcher so it makes it kind of look like a car
8:45like a like you're kind of like your home head unit so do you like this layout or do you like the way
8:50the other one looks so yeah if you want the other one there's also a bunch of other
8:57like launchers which is basically your home screen if you want to change
9:01um this is a file browser so kind of like your computer you have different folders and
9:07things like that that chrome that's self-explanatory right the web browser gallery if you want to
9:13pictures and stuff um yeah you can play with that later okay easy connect is if you plug in a
9:23you can have mirror your phone i'm not sure how that really works turn on airplay and select
9:31you see- you have airplay i don't know what airplay is yeah to try that so on our phone
9:40if you can show the audience it has like easy airplay and then what does it say right here
9:44slide up on the phone could you select it right now with
9:51can you mirror hey slide up and this screen here so there's a screen here on the iphone
10:01so i guess i don't know when this would be okay to kind of play like go on instagram real quick
10:08if you guys want to follow her her instagram tag is right here you got two left
10:14can you hold the oh you can't hold it so i was right yeah so then you can i can you control this
10:18i can't control on your phone right now okay so i can't control it but it is a it's a mirror
10:24display so that's cool i don't know why uh i guess you if you had uh ways on your phone or
10:31A your phone or something like that or other thing like discord or YouTube you have like funny videos
10:37You can do something like that. So that's what that app was right here easy connect
10:40so that's that's cool I mean that's cool right you got you got easy connect on
10:46iphone I actually never did that before because I'm an android and the
10:50process was a little bit more difficult yours was really easy so let's go back
10:54to home dad plus you don't have it so don't worry about it that pretty much is
11:00hd radio for overseas and we don't have that dvr we also don't have you can hook up a camera to
11:05the like your phone and that would be your dash camera so you don't have that either so if you
11:09. Wanted you can just delete the app i think somehow i don't know how but you can remove
11:15it somewhere apk installer that basically means if you want to install applications
11:20kind of like not through the internet but through a flash drive that's what that's for
11:24amplifier is your sound quality so let's play a song real quick look at. Your favorite song
11:30your favorite song that you know very well that's hard just play that same song that one
11:40or you can play old town road you know i want to mute that there's this one this
11:50this has bass i think it's the base are you playing it oh i might have oh i i think it's the bluetooth
11:55thing because we were in the other app so we got a bluetooth do you like that boop boop sound
12:03the sound, I can get rid of it. So we're playing this song, and and then we go to the EQ. Cause I want some bass, cause this head unit is the Dasaita head unit. When is the bass hit? So there's all these options. You're about to watch a mutu, about to go to a rave and then your heart is a rave cause you have a thing that's got a flash all these lights. All right. So what do you think of the sound quality, versus your OEM unit specifically?
12:33it's more so what do you mean by more because we have the oem unit you get back there
12:38and we have the new unit from big this is remember this is the px6 this is has internal dsp so you
12:44get a lot of power um out of the speakers but did you notice like you who really don't know much
12:52about audio or really care about this kind of stuff do you notice that the bass is harder because
12:57you listen to edm and rave and budget bass hitters like the volume when we don't like what
13:00like the volume when we go like what this is already you already kind of you can't feel it right you can't hear the bass already at seven it's already hitting hard and it's clear right it's not like distorted sometimes some
13:15head units when you turn it up too much it starts to sound like a piece of paper flapping up and
13:20you you know so when I have to hit 30 or 35 just for a loud bass really so that's when like the volume is low but
13:28but there's already bass and
13:34improvement when it comes to sound quality yeah that's good and this is the eq we have it right now
13:38that's cool so that's the eq there's a little shortcut right here too i guess this is the brightness
13:44science yeah so the little little shortcuts you have the settings to the eq i don't know what this is
13:48microphone oh for call yeah it's for call i don't oh it's for it's for theory you activate a theory really
13:57so we get so that button right here we can play any song it activates theory really that's cool
14:09open spotify there you go so it automatically opens spotify for you if you have that that's
14:15pretty convenient right yeah so we got the spotify and yeah that's awesome here you go
14:20um oh i know gaggin would love this calculator so if you're trying to mad
14:28real quick like what's pie and stuff you got you got all that information right here okay
14:33and look how wide at it that's great so you got the okay so you have to
14:37amplify our dvr we don't have again we have clock which is um i don't know if you're trying to
14:44erase somebody and you're just like hey what that vehicle so uh i think your head unit had
14:51information about your car too right so like you can look at your average mpg and obviously we
14:56haven't been moving the last 20 minutes or whatever so we don't have the best and wow it
15:04tire pressure
15:08that's really nice it's in kpa which is not something you know right because it does
15:14I don't know the what that means because in the United States we use psi not kpa so we should be able
15:20to chang that but that's kind of cool that has like it still has like your full type your
15:24feel information and you can check out how good your MPG is. It looks like it's around 40.
15:29That's cool. You still retain that information. Front camera you don't have, calculator, TPMS.
15:33um front camera you don't have calculator tpms that's the uh that's if you want to have after market
15:41tire pressure monitors which you ante have right there so you don't need this g email-mail and
15:45self-explanatory control settings so um did your head unit have these options too
15:51I know so like volume backdoor all this stuff auto lock from park shift
15:57so when you when you put into drive it automatically puts blocks your car put in drive
16:06you see how you see how your door is locked did it used to be like that
16:14okay well if you don't know now you can you you can do right there see when you shift to park
16:19mm-hmm it will unlock your doors awesome when you shift it if you want to turn
16:24that off whatever uh press to uh remote to press unlock I don't know that,
16:40Day time running lights on display off sonar. You don't have parking sensors on your car do you?
16:49What's this?
16:52Wireless lock one door open convenience auto door unlock
16:58Well you you have that okay, whatever that is if you're like hey you're trying to press your friends you can flex on them
17:03you can flex on them google maps tv so if you want to download more apps you can go here and then
17:11finally a will key study is that um steering wheel controls I I wouldn't mess with that because your
17:17stuff is already working and then this is your navigation let's say your phone's dead and you
17:22don't know where the in the hell you're going even though we have all these usb you should be able to
17:27never be like i'm stranded you can go to here and then you'll have gps this is gps mm-hmm
17:35and then we got the youtube right, which is uh it could be a you can actually download
17:40Netflix too if you wanna Netflix it again that is up to you you're responsible I don't want you to
17:46anything happen and then we have us in here you remember so if you're charging your friend's phone
17:53or you know he's hogging it you have usb right there okay any questions no thank
18:09it looks great so looks wise it looks great what about sound quality i like it a lot
18:17oughta goes to that and what about performance it looks pretty smooth right i was running that
18:21youtube video and stuff like that no problem everything was going smooth anything else you
18:25want to say thank you okay well that concludes of the side up this is the maxi uh max six with
18:31the p.x uh six lemme just show you the specs real quick we have the storage you have 64 gigs
18:38is on board storage on here which is really nice, and then you have a 16 gigabyte micro sd card so
18:43you actually have a micro sd card in this too so you have a lot of storage what 16 plus
18:4864 you do the math that's like that's 80 by the way so you have 80 80 gigs on this so if you
18:57want to load up uh what i did was um i load a bunch of um studio ghibli so when i was
19:03was driving at la we were watching um well i wasn't watching i was driving but my
19:07passengers were watching studio ghib
19:13hot spot but having higher quality videos already on your 80 gigs um you're set there
19:19as far as a processor lemme just just for the guys right here um this one is using the rk3399
19:26which is the fastest android head unit processor right now she probably has no idea what that means but the
19:32px6 is the fastest you know i i try to you know this is my cousin so i try to give her the
19:35best of the best you got the android 9.0 with the uh there's a processor and four gigs
19:41of ram that's the the way to do it you want four gigs of ram uh for the smoothest and then you want the
19:45px6 the px3 is way too slow i wouldn't recommend that processor but anything like a px5 or px6
19:51it's just the best uh that wraps it up if you guys were looking for this head unit
19:58links down below if you guys have questions put the comments and of course like and comment
20:03and subscribe if you guys haven't for more android head unit content thanks for watching
