Tools & parts
Tools
- Plastic trim tool (prefer fingers where you can)
- 10mm socket
- Zip ties (included)
Parts
- Dasaita head unit + new bezel
- Labeled plug-and-play harness adapters
- GPS / Wi-Fi / USB accessories as needed
Step by step
- 1
Pop the factory bezel▶ 2:48
Start at one edge and work slowly. Prefer your fingers for tactile feedback so you don't break clips. A plastic trim tool is fine; avoid metal.
- 2
Remove six 10mm bolts▶ 3:48
There are six 10mm bolts holding the radio. Remove them all, then carefully pull the unit out — watch the harnesses behind it.
- 3
Unplug the OEM unit▶ 4:14
Most plugs have a top clip you push down. Unplug power, antenna and the climate-related connectors.
- 4
Transfer brackets and climate controls▶ 4:41
Move the brackets and the non-radio climate/AC pieces onto the new Dasaita bezel. The new radio sits on top of that assembly.
- 5
Plug in the harness▶ 6:35
The 10-pin handles power and the dimmer; the 6-pin runs the rear speakers. Line them up for a click, then plug the main connector into the back of the head unit with the AM/FM antenna.
Tip: That's enough to power-test before full reassembly.
- 6
Power-test and pair CarPlay▶ 7:39
First boot takes the longest. Confirm sound, then pair Bluetooth — after pairing it opens ZLINK for Apple CarPlay.
- 7
Transfer the vents▶ 9:24
The OEM frame has four tabs (two per vent). Pry them open with the included tool, move the vents to the new bezel, and reassemble.
- 8
Route accessories and bolt in▶ 10:56
Route USB and GPS cables, plug the three top connectors, seat the unit, and snug the six 10mm bolts.
Wiring notes
- 10-pin = power + dimmer; 6-pin = rear speakers
- Main harness plugs into the back of the head unit with the AM/FM antenna
- CarPlay via Bluetooth → ZLINK

0:13What's up guys? It's your boy John. We are back again here with another video
0:18Android hate units are coming full swings. The new latest in tech is coming out this year
0:23So we want to try out all the new stuff the cider is
0:27Bringing out the new heat for the Toyota Highlander and of course across all the other
0:33This is a-2006 Toyota Highlander. It has the base
0:38radio cassette
0:40disc nothing impressive we really want to increase the
0:46Infotainment system for this customer to the next level, so we have the the side of head unit right here
0:51Do a little quick unboxing and when you're buying from this item they have one of the best packaging in my eye and also
0:59full-colored
1:01instructions and user manuals and all that and the
1:04Everything's packaged really nicely because even the harnesses have their own bags and it has it's a labeled out
1:13So if you are afraid of wiring or anything like that you
1:17Shouldn't worry too much. This is a plug-and-play kit. You don't need to go by anything else
1:22You don't need splice or worry about anything you just disconnect
1:27reconnected
1:28that's it
1:29for the most part for the wiring for the
1:32The head unit itself it's six bolts take that out
1:37You'd be fine. So we're gonna do a step-by-step instructions on how to do this. Done be afraid
1:43This is anybody can do this they do all right
1:46So we are inside the interior of the Toyota Highlander and the something to note is
1:51This is the OEM radio and I'm just gonna have a side by side comparison of the new
1:57Massive one that the sida has the trim piece. It has the plugs and everything
2:02So all you have to do is transfer over your old stuff onto the back of this new stuff
2:07the new stuff and it's
2:08Gonna be a plug. It's gonna be very easy. You don't have to
2:12fabricate or cut anything drill
2:44Because it's still an OEM piece
2:48That's a really old so we start with one I start with one edge
2:53Got that open and I'm just gonna slowly work it. No need to rush here. Okay
3:04also, it's a great idea to use some of your fingers
3:08Because your fingers has really tactile feedback and you'll be
3:11Be able to know when things are gonna break versus using a tool especially a metal tool
3:16This one's a plastic one. So it really doesn
3:17doesn't scratch up your interior. So it really doesn't scratch up your interior
3:20But with something like this
3:22Just work it easy
3:25Massage it out. Massage it out. Massage it out. This is what we do it's what we do with massaging it up
3:29That piece is out. Now these are get these little vents right here. We're gonna be transferring it over
3:33I'm gonna show you guys how to do that in a second
3:36Or in a minute
3:38Here we are we got the
3:40Amazing unit right here. Let me make it a little brighter for y'all to see
3:45And that's gonna reveal some
3:4810 millimeters you got one, two, three, four, five, six
3:54So you're just gonna add 10 and remove all those
3:57All right with all the 10s removed we want to snake it back
4:04Be mindful that there is going to be some wiring harnesses in the back
4:08So kind of have it like this and you kind of just unplug as much as you can
4:14Most of these plugs are gonna have a little
4:18Clip to get the push down on from the very top
4:21And that's gonna give you that clearance you're gonna need
4:23Once you move the AC so I'm gonna get a good view of that, but there's a
4:30Time you pull
4:32He comes out and that's it. We did most of the hard work
4:37now let's remove
4:39these
4:41These brackets on this and transfer all the radio
4:47Non on radio stuff over to the new
4:50bezel
5:23You just have to remove the head unit portion and you can just keep the tube
5:27But this is how I have it right now
5:28So
5:30one of the things that we're gonna is that we're going to be able to
5:36, we're going to be able to
5:38So we're going to be it back on here
5:41Then the radio. The new radio is going to sit on top of that, which is awesome
5:48Now let me show you
5:50Just because it's going to be a little bit easier with all of this out of the way
5:55Let me show you how the wiring is done
5:59You want this bag right here, which is the smaller bag that has all these
6:02Kind of like adapters
6:08You're gonna get like a
6:11Some zip ties and tools so you can use to remove the head unit
6:16And then you're gonna get something like this right here
6:19Now remember some of the most of these are going to be controlling the ac unit and the fans and
6:31Boom
6:35And the 10 pins going to control your power your dimmer switch
6:41And then the six pins going to control your rear speakers
6:46So let's get that plugged in right here
6:50So with 10 pin line it up
6:56Here the nice satisfying click this purple and
7:08Here we are going to plug this straight into the back of the head unit
7:13And that's it when it comes to wiring your head unit
7:17So as an example, just to show we're going to put in the antenna
7:23This is controls am fm antenna and then we're going to use this to plug in our
7:29main power
7:30And that's all we need
7:33To get this unit working. It's kind of crazy. I didn't get that. Could you try again?
7:37But that's all it's going to take
7:39Now it's still a little test to make sure. Everything powers on
7:52Boom it's powering on the now
7:55You can have it on the on which is going to turn on the..., you know that stuff
8:00But on the first boot it's going to take the longest and once you have the first boot over with then it's
8:06Going to be a lot faster
8:08So the number one being you want to test is
8:11Just sound so as long as you're getting sound
8:14Let's hit these buttons
8:20You got
8:21Perfect. So we're getting sound. We know this unit is working. You're gonna go through a bluetooth and whatnot
8:28And we get that car play going. Let's, see
8:31So you got a bluetooth. So this would be how you
8:33You would do it on your first setup. Now I have an apple
8:37After you pair it it will automatically go to z link
8:41And
8:42Now we have apple
8:45Now we have apple car play
8:48Which is perfect. This is what we
8:52Want and we can,
8:54Check
9:23... I've been listening to is the new m&m album album. Oh, that sounds good hot tour. Check it the volume up. all that's good precedingыт. All that's working and it sounds amazing. So there you go. Let's wrap everything up put in the vents, which I'm going to show you how to do that. And you just do everything in reverse.
9:24a. All right to do these vents so. So this is the oem frame that we are no, no longer using. You
9:29You
9:29will notice. Notice that there are these tabs right here. You have two right here and
9:35You have. One.. Two. So. So a total of four. 4. which you, what
9:39You want to do is it.. the kit is included with the kit and you want.
9:44You want to just pry that bad boy open.
10:33back in and we plug in the three plugs from the very top into this bad boy. Looks like I have the hazards on that.
10:56We want to route these cables cables
10:58. This is what we're going to be using. Same
11:01Same with
11:08the USBs. That's all we're really using here. And then lastly we have the car antenna radio.
11:10Get a snug back and then we do the 6 10s to get it nice and snug putting it on that together and you have something like this.
11:27You have something like this. All right. So we have the head unit installed. Let me
11:36me see if you guys have a good angle on that. pretty good.
11:41Start the car up. Of course, when you're in drive, you can actually see the screen, but we're
11:48going to park. So it's going to block a little bit of the screen, but
11:52Instantly
11:58it's
12:04So we have Apple I play
12:07I very good
12:08very bright colors from
12:12. This is exactly how you do it on any of the new
12:14of the newe cars with Apple Car Play.
12:16This one is the main Android portion.
12:19And it's so smooth. It. It's amazing. Higher frame rate than the Apple Car Play for sure.
12:28Right now, right now.
12:31Get the, Car mobile spots.
12:34Here are some settings in car Apple Car Play.
12:37Android Auto enabled. Also, if you turn on your headlights, you have that LED lights up.
12:42I think these older cars.
12:46I sure can't really say since it's so dim.
12:49But at it might be like a
12:52that just have it white.
12:54But it might be one of those, you know, that was green that Toyota green back in the day kind of something
12:59like that., but let's just do white.
13:01This is a very safe options.
13:30But yeah, here's the main interface.
13:34Of course, I don't know if you caught that,
13:36but when you're in,.
13:37In. Boom, turn on the headlights, it has that dark. a dark mode right the rip, which is awesome.
13:46You record DV. R as front cameras.
14:28This unit storage, 240 gigs, that's insane.
14:32, displays amazing wallpaper.
14:59Thank you guys for watching.
