Pop the AC panel, wire the Raise CANbus decoder for factory-amp Civics, map AUX L/R to front outs, then set Raise Honda CRV5 in factory settings so climate and steering controls work. This 17 min guide covers the Honda Civic 10 FC/FK ~2015–2020 / 2016–2021 with tools, parts links and the full video.

Overview

A bright 2K-class iDoing unit for 10th-gen Civics that already have the upgraded factory amplifier (Si, Touring, Type R). The Raise CANbus box decodes the digital amp signal, keeps steering-wheel controls and door-open messages, and needs factory profile "Raise Honda CRV5" so the on-screen climate UI works. John also shaves a USB adapter so both factory USB ports keep working.

Video chapters

Step by step

  1. 1

    Remove the AC / climate panel▶ 1:03

Release four clips carefully with a trim tool, then pop the AC panel — light pressure. Main screws hold the radio; small ones can stay.

  2. 2

    Wire camera and USB▶ 2:10

Link CAM IN and backup video in (both yellow — don't grab random AUX video). Seat the USB plugs firmly into the adapters for the Civic's dual lower USBs.

Tip: John shaved the green adapter's key so both factory USB ports would accept it.

  3. 3

Connect the Raise CANbus box▶ 3:47

White leads go into the Raise decoder — that restores steering-wheel controls and door-open on-screen alerts on amp-equipped Civics.

  4. 4

Map audio for the factory amp▶ 4:15

Connect AUX L → front left out and AUX R → front right out (red/white RCAs). That's the decoded amp path. Also plug the thick OEM audio/digital lead and the full set of gray OEM harness plugs (five for EX-L / Si / Type R).

Warning: Wrong RCA pair = silence. Stick to AUX L/R → front outs.

  5. 5

    Power, antennas and mic▶ 5:06

Main power harness to OEM plugs, FM/AM antenna, GPS, built-in Wi-Fi stub. Optional external mic if HVAC blow hits the built-in mic.

  6. 6

    Snap the unit in▶ 6:48

Fish wires back, clip the radio home, refit the AC panel. Boot is fast and can auto-launch CarPlay via ZLINK.

  7. 7

    Factory profile for climate▶ 14:25

Factory settings → choose Raise Honda / CRV5 so the climate overlay works. Add a floating Air Condition button under Common settings because vent mode isn't fully controllable from the panel UI alone.

Tip: Steering volume and reverse camera lines should already work once CANbus is right.

0:00What's up guys, it's your boy John. We're back again here with another video today

0:04We're gonna be doing an install on a bump of a bump. I'm doing head unit now this head unit right here

0:11It's gonna be something special because it's behind the Civic one now the type R and the higher trim levels like the

0:18Civic EXL have a better more upgraded

0:22Campifier which causes issues when it comes to the aftermarket. So let's solve that today

0:27What you're gonna need is a special can bus right here. So

0:32This one's by raise and if you want to see this you're on them and all that jazz

0:36There you go

0:39And essentially it's gonna use this port right here

0:44This one right here, which is like a kind of antenna wire and that's gonna give us the key to get that audio, audio signal

0:51that way we can

0:54The code it and then set it up for audio for the front on the car

1:00But here yeah, I'm doing

1:03So this basically our goal when removing this is to

1:10Remove the AC unit first

1:12So actually

1:14There's one more clip here. You want to be definitely

1:18Gents. Here you go. So there's a clip

1:23That one's kind of rugged and you've got four clips total

1:27You definitely want to use a tool. It's so much easier. Look at that

1:33Comes out. This is the first time we're removing this all right

1:37So next thing to take the AC out you see how it protrudes out a little bit right here

1:43You want to get your tool you just pretty much want to pop it up on the side

1:48Then you can do that. Let me see if I can do this one hand try not to break it of course

1:53There you go. So didn't take that much pressure at all from what you guys saw and I did that one hand

2:01All right, so even though there's these two screws and then these ones you don't need to remove these small ones

2:06Just these main ones and then the rest is held by clips

2:10All right, so after you put every single clip in let me just go over the wiring once again

2:22Just to clarify because it is the most difficult and challenging part of this

2:26This one right here we have it plugged in and on the other side we have cam bin

2:32Now on the other side we have backup video in so those are the two ones you want to link up

2:38They're both yellow, but there's also with some civics like ox video in and AR video in we want cam

2:45Bin and backup video in

2:48Now we also have this plug right here

2:51So it's kind of

2:53It's kind of loose

2:55So you make sure you plug it in really tight, but these are your USB and you want to connect it to your adapters right here

3:03So we have two USBs because the civic has two USBs on the bottom, I believe and we had to modify this green one to accept

3:14Both of them so they both work and I'm just showing you how the plug looks like so it looks something like that

3:21It's just an adapter. I just had to shave the top because it only worked for two

3:26It worked for this gray one, but this green one has another like little

3:30This little cut right here you can see then made it so

3:35You couldn't plug it in for some reason. So I would just shave this area

3:39now works

3:41so a little ingenuity

3:44ingenuity that we had to do

3:47This two white cables that goes into these boxes and what let's see if you can follow it

3:53So if you follow these white what?

3:55Cables it goes into this big box the race can bus the coder and

4:00What that is for us is it allows you has to have steering control

4:04It allows us to know when the doors open the car knows the doors open and it'll actually display on the screen

4:10So that's very important to and then lastly we have this big one right here

4:15In terms of all the white ones and this one controls the audio

4:19So you're gonna have a bunch of RCA jacks coming out red and white and I know this all it's plug-and-play, but there are a little hot of wires so

4:30Connect the ox L

4:32And the ox right so you left them right audio channels to your front left out and front right out

4:40so

4:41If you connect those two you will have audio

4:44Now don't get it twisted with these other ones like the ox ring and stuff like that just play with it

4:50If you have no audios, but for us ox L

4:54Front left out

4:56Ox

4:57R

4:58Front right out

5:00That's it right there and then you have your main power harness that plugs into all your OEM harnesses

5:06So this black one

5:07Let me just pull it out and I'll show you what wires that are coming from the OEM harness

5:13So the OEM harness is gonna have a ton of cables like the USBs. We just talked about

5:18You're gonna have

5:20This wire right here. It's got thicker gauge wire and that pretty much controls your audio

5:27Signal so your factory amplifier has a digital signal and then it goes through the can bus to the get the coated

5:36Then you have something like this make sure you plug this in not too sure what this one does

5:41Sing with these, but you want to have these

5:44one two three four five

5:48Five of these four mergeray and one of them wait for your Honda

5:53EXL Civic SI or your Civic type 4

5:59Okay, and then after that you should be able to be good to go

6:04Minus this small accessories like their GPS antenna this one already comes with a little Wi-Fi knob right there

6:10And then make sure your FM AM radio antenna is plugged in right here and

6:16Then you should be able to fish it back

6:19Now a few accessories that you could do is add a microphone because this is in a spot where your AC might blow and hit the microphone

6:29So we can loop it over here

6:33For my for my testing it doesn't make a big difference, but if you're running into issues, then you can add that

6:40additional microphone to alleviate that with noise or

6:45Blower noise that's coming from your HVAC system

6:48So yeah, fish this all the way back and with those clips, it should snap right in

6:57So once you snap it right in. Oh, it feels good. It's secure

7:01It's gonna get about to get even more secure when you add this bad boy right here and

7:08Wall-A you have the head unit installed

7:13All right, so we have the android head unit looking great look at the quality of the screen. This is a two-kit screen. It's bright

7:21contrasty and go home

7:25It's the multi-media and yeah, so you can turn off this beep if you don't want it. This is the home interface just in general

7:33And I like to hear the sound, but you don't need to have it on there's let me just walk through the apps real quick

7:40So we have chrome Play Store Bluetooth. This is how the Bluetooth looks like

7:45Well, it's connected to car play so it's not gonna have Bluetooth

7:49Mixer which is gonna be your

7:51Ooh look at all this stuff. So it's a little bit complicated

7:55But we were listening to a song and it actually sounds really good with that DSP they added and you can tell this is a little bit over my

8:03Head, I don't know what to decipher when it comes to all that but if you guys want wanted to you can do that

8:08You can also change your logo. I'm gonna set to Honda because I'm a Honda. Oh, so it's restarting

8:21very cool

8:24Oh

8:26Represent the Honda and you can change it to something better like an Acre if you wanted to

8:30Oh

8:34It's the same thing, but you can see the boot time sensor already added

8:40normally

8:41It boots up so fast

8:43But because it's doing like all the settings even with it like

8:47booting from complete shutdown

8:49It was pretty fast and it auto boots into car play. This is actually faster than in my Acre which takes like

8:57Um, sometimes six of one minute to three minutes. It's really annoying. So this thing's booting up way faster than my OEM head unit

9:05But we don't want to see that actually

9:12So we got the Z link over there. Oh, sorry. I shouldn't do that Z links

9:21Okay, we have photos logo shop maps and then we have white white TV music, which is YouTube music

9:28You're built in GPS

9:30Spotify GPS. They know wallpapers and so forth. I like to we use Z link a lot

9:36I actually want to see how the what kind of wallpapers they have here

9:40So if you want to go you can download your custom wallpaper if you want

9:44This one just seems like a good one that the set it on

9:48But there's a lot of cool backdrops like I'll let the owner decide on what he wants

9:59So I'll just leave it to that stock look

10:02Okay

10:04Followed by settings

10:06Got Wi-Fi boots to common. So everything common is you can have

10:12Nambion boot and stuff like that it automatically

10:16Boots into the last application used so in this case it was the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

10:23But here are some of the information when it comes to stuff like that battery of protection

10:30So this is something you want to do if you don't want your batteries to drain

10:36That I don't know I know what this magic mode switches

10:40Right can you turn your headlights real quick? I just kind of let's see

10:43So it does dim the screen, but there are no buttons on this display. It's just a clean look. You can turn off again

10:50So there's no

10:52There's no lights

10:54Sound if you were like I don't want to hear that beep noise anymore. There you go. There's no more that beep noise

11:00It's under sound and beep. You can also change the way it sounds

11:04That one's a little bit less annoying

11:10Looks like it's just increasing in pitch

11:16This one sounds like you're playing Mario and you just got hit or they're shooting a fireball

11:28So I want to leave on that you can change it later

11:33Hey, I'm gonna play Super Mario Mario. It sounds like it

11:37All right radar this car doesn't have any radio

11:40So I'm not a last I got to turn off this thing really sounds like a fireball

11:47More reverse signal stuff. So this we are outfitted with reverse

11:52So I'm gonna show that if you can clutch in for me

11:55So if you don't like the lines or you want to edit the lines

12:00It's gonna be within the settings. We have reverse camera and like when the doors open

12:06It also shows that too. So we are covering that and can we show the steering wheel controls working real quick volume up and down

12:12So he's doing that right there volume up and down. So that's a huge plus you need serial controls on a

12:22So we got a music playing right camera switch. So some of the EX models have a camera right here this car doesn't have it because of weight reduction and

12:30And yeah

12:34Turn the brightness up. See how bright you can get. Oh, it's actually pretty right. I'm gonna max it out

12:40With the display. It's really important to be bright because when the sun's hitting it it washes out the color

12:47So next brightness so this one's using a snapdragon 8 core unit, which is insane the Drenno 610

12:55I don't know exactly what snapdragon this is

12:57But the snap dragons are way more efficient than the px6 and the px5 so snapdragon 8 core

13:04Amazing, I believe this is the 665 which is the newer

13:09Processors that are coming out 8 gigs of RAM which is more as much as my iPhone, which is crazy tool

13:15128 gigs of storage a hundred gigs available

13:202k display so it's 1920 by 1080 that's like you're full so it is that's

13:26You can call it 2k because it is 2000, but it is a bit of a stretch, but is a it's higher resolution than a

13:341920 by 1080p display and here is some

13:38Canvas versions and stuff like that check check all that stuff. I showed you earlier on the install if you're curious and

13:45Then factory if you want to go to factory. There's a password. Here's the password for it's and you can set up the

13:53Thing so we have a 12 CRV and civic that gives us the canvas information it needs to do stuff like this door and

14:01Those it's your own controls trick-tree box

14:09Okay, that's that's what that is. I don't even know what that is. We did the boot logo original car set

14:16English you can there's so many stuff you can do actually kind of want to see you

14:22All you can upgrade it

14:25All right before you wrap this up something that we had to do to get the AC to actually work

14:31You can see it working right here. It isn't Celsius. It's kind of weird, but it is what it is

14:36You have to go into the canvas settings

14:40Because remember how I was talking about the canvas box is raise

14:47Like reason

14:49So you go to settings you go to software or you go to factory 4-8s

14:54After that you go to here and

14:58He's like raise Honda and in this case CRV5 and that's the only way we can get it to work

15:05So now it actually shows

15:08This little window when you change it now the only big thing that you have to watch out for is

15:14You can't control your events here. So we add a floating button

15:18I don't know if I'm on the side because just in the middle it's kind of weird

15:21But you can should be able to adjust this and now I feel it coming out of the front

15:26Now you guys hey John so is it it's blowing up here? What does it show on the thing?

15:32So it does still show well, I guess it's showing that it's blowing in your face. How would it show the front top?

15:39I guess it wouldn't show the top

15:41So this your face and that I know it shows like

15:45The settings also show another thing

15:49Like the face, but you never really get to that level

15:53But that's to enable this little button you have to go to here go to settings again

16:00go to comment

16:02Floating button and air condition. That's the only way you can make adjustments. It's kind of weird

16:08But that's a little work around that way you can have it blowing at your face if you were

16:13You know into that there you go. See it's blowing your face and it's non-auto
