A two-piece real carbon fiber overlay that clips over the Cybertruck's stock squircle steering wheel. There's no adhesive, you don't touch the airbag, and it goes on in minutes. John picked the matte weave to match the interior. This 6 min guide covers the Tesla Cybertruck stock steering wheel (EVBASE link in the video description) with tools, parts links and.

Overview

The Cybertruck's stock wheel is leather, but John thinks it almost looks like plastic. EVBASE's carbon fiber cover goes right over the stock wheel, so you never pull the wheel or mess with the airbag. It comes as a top piece and a bottom piece. He went with the flat (matte) weave because most of the Cybertruck interior is matte and gloss would break it up. He also notes that the EVBASE carbon license plate frame he installed over a year ago still shows no oxidation after a year in the California sun. The weave on both pieces is clean, with no watermarks or breaks in the pattern. Because the cover clips on instead of sticking on, there's no adhesive to clean up if you ever take it off. He calls it probably the easiest install he's ever done, with no instructions needed. It sits tight and flush with no rattles. The only drawback is a small gap at the back of the wheel, but you never look there, and from the front it looks like it came stock.

Video chapters

Step by step

  1. 1

    Why a cover▶ 0:27

The cover goes directly over the stock wheel, so you don't remove the steering wheel or touch the airbag. It adds carbon style to the stock leather squircle wheel.

  2. 2

    Pick the finish▶ 1:14

It comes in gloss or flat (matte) weave. John chose matte because most of the Cybertruck interior has a matte finish.

  3. 3

    Unbox and inspect▶ 2:13

It ships in two pieces packed in styrofoam: a bottom piece and a top piece. Check the weave. His had no watermarks and no breaks in the pattern.

  4. 4

    No adhesive▶ 3:29

Many wheel covers need adhesive, which is a pain to remove later. This one simply pops on and off.

  5. 5

    Fit the bottom piece▶ 3:58

The bottom piece has a cut for the bottom of the squircle. Line it up and press it on. The stitching on the back of the wheel stays exposed.

  6. 6

Fit the top piece and check the gaps▶ 4:45

Press the top piece on and check the four points where it clamps on. John's were tight with no gaps and no noise when gripping the wheel.

Tip: If you see a small gap at the back, push the cover in a bit more to close it up.

  7. 7

    Verdict▶ 5:27

Super easy, with no adhesive. There's a small gap at the back, but from the front it looks like it came stock and matches the rest of the interior.

0:00Yeah, what's up everybody, Eevee base hooked it up, we're gonna do a unboxing and install

0:27of the carbon fiber cybertruck wheel cover so with their carbon fiber cover you're not

0:30wheel cover

0:31So with their carbon fiber cover, you're not gonna have to take off the steering wheel mess with any airbags

0:39You just installs directly over the steering wheel the stock cyber truck steering. Well, it's pretty cool

0:44I mean it's that

0:45Squircle design half rectangle half circle and it is leather route

0:50, but if you could if you just look at it aesthetically it almost looks plastic even though it is leather

0:55You could tell on this real stitching on there. We'll see how and then so and then on the back

1:02You could see some of the. Stitching it's really clean stitching for

1:05Tesla they did a good job with it, but if you want an extra oomf and

1:09And style points to the cyber truck. You got to get the eevee base

1:15Cyber truck carbon fiber steering wheel cover. for the flat

1:20Carbon fiber weave design

1:22You could it comes with a gloss the reason why I didn't go with the gloss is if you could tell here

1:26Most of the carbon fiber or most of the cyber truck interior is kind of a matte finish

1:32break it up too much with the gloss and if you guys remember I did install the

1:38EV based carbon fiber license plate frame and it's holding up really well

1:45in the Sun this thing just sits outside that's it's already been

1:47like over a year old, I don't do any special

1:51special treatment to it, but the carbon fiber design,

1:54the weave design, there's no, any hints of oxidation,

1:58it's still alive and well.

2:01And that's all taken a beating from the California sunshine.

2:08So let's go ahead and unbox this thing

2:09and see what this carbon fiber steering

2:12will cover is all about.

2:13Looks like they have some styrofoam protecting

2:17steering wheel cover. So there, there it comes in two pieces. It looks like a bottom piece

2:24and a top piece. What's really cool about this carbon fiber steering wheel cover is

2:31what's up son? Go inside the house. Yeah, I the house. Yeah, I'll be there in five-minutes, okay?

2:39I want to play with you some more. That was my son. Okay, so it looks like this

2:46piece might be the bottom piece it's a really clean matte finish design if you

2:54could take a look here very nice we use no water marks the pattern is flawless no

3:05brakes let's see the top piece

3:11here same thing very clean design flat

3:20finish it's gonna match quite well with

3:23the interior of the cyber truck as I

3:29was saying the problem with some

3:32The problem with some steering will covers is it's gonna

3:38require

3:42Adhesive so if you have to end up having to remove it

3:49Then it's gonna leave a bunch of adhesive behind ends up being a pain in the butt

3:54This one you could just simply pop it in and on and off

3:58The bottom piece has is cut for the bottom of the squircle

4:02See how it lines up you simply just I'm just learning' learning. I didn't look up the instructions or anything anything

4:09Here you go super clean design

4:12So it still has the stitching exposed in the back

4:16It's very talked to very flush

4:25Seamless I only know that it's just a applique

4:31only simply because I installed it just now

4:33and it was super easy.

4:36It's probably the easiest install

4:38I've ever done in my life.

4:40That's without any instructions or anything like that.

4:45There's a little bit of a gap speck right here

4:47but I'm sure if you just mush it up it up a little bit more, it'll clean up.

4:51And then up here, same thing, you don't see any gaps along where it

4:57clamps onto the steering wheel so all four points of where it clamps on no

5:00So all four points of where it clamps on no-gaps

5:04Time will tell to see if it opens up a little bit, but it's really tight when I hold on to it

5:09It's not like it's making any noises

5:12Because it's it's holding on tight. It's not like when I'm holding it

5:17It feels like it's gonna come off or anything and if you want to look at the back

5:32adhesive behind but the drawback is there's a little bit of

5:36a gap in the back but you're not looking back there you're only looking up at the

5:39front the front this looks like it comes stock like this matches with the rest

5:43of the interior still you know you gotta keep it lightweight 6,000 pound truck

5:48any a little bit of weight reduction helped EV base thank you link in the

5:54bottom description of the video below and you're gonna see a discount code too.

5:58Let me know if you guys have any questions.
