APR Carbon Radiator Cooling Plates: Acura Integra Type S DE5 Install
APR's pre-preg carbon cooling plates fill the gaps above the Integra Type S radiator. They reuse the OEM clip spots; skip the optional drilling by using fender-liner push clips, and trim a little if you run a bigger aftermarket intake like the PRL.

APR's pre-preg carbon cooling plates fill the gaps above the Integra Type S radiator. They reuse the OEM clip spots; skip the optional drilling by using fender-liner push clips, and trim a little if you run a bigger aftermarket intake like the PRL. This 5 min guide covers the APR radiator cooling plates for the Acura DE5 Integra Type S.
Overview
John bought APR's carbon fiber radiator cooling plates mostly to make the Integra Type S engine bay prettier, but the description explains the function too: the plates close the structural gaps above the radiator so air is channeled straight through it instead of escaping. It's an easy install because you don't have to jack the car up. The plates use a lot of the OEM mounting spots. APR gives you the option to drill two holes larger so you can add clips for the most rigid mount; John skips the drilling and instead uses fender-liner push clips at those two end points. He retains the OEM clips for now. Because he runs a PRL intake, which is bigger than the stock airbox, he had to shave a little where the hood was hitting. Otherwise the tolerances are really good. He likes how the carbon hides the uglier parts up front and blings up the center of the bay.

- Clip removal tool
- Something to trim with if you run a big aftermarket intake
- Drill (only if you choose APR's optional drilled holes)
Parts
- APR carbon radiator cooling plates
- OEM clips (reused)
- Fender-liner style push clips (instead of drilling)
Step by step
- 1
No jack needed▶ 0:30
The cooling plate is one of the easier mods because you work from the top with the hood open; no need to lift the car.
- 2
Mock it up▶ 1:45
The plates line up with a lot of the OEM mounting spots.
- 3
Optional: drill for more clips▶ 1:54
APR lets you drill two holes larger so you can add clips there for the most rigid fit. John doesn't feel it's necessary and skips drilling.
- 4
Install the first piece▶ 2:37
Retain the OEM clips for now. With an aftermarket intake the design differs a bit, so check it fits; otherwise you may need to shave. Tolerances are very good, and the seal goes around the edge.
- 5
Passenger side▶ 3:15
Use the hood prop as needed. There are only two clips: take them out, set the plate, and clip it back in.
- 6
Trim for a big intake▶ 3:27
John had to shave a little because the hood was hitting: his PRL intake is fatter than the stock box. You can't really see the trim from below.
- 7
Clips instead of drilling▶ 3:50
At the two spots APR suggests drilling, John used small fender-liner push clips instead. They hold it down well.
- 8
The result▶ 4:09
The carbon hides the ugly parts up front and the center of the bay looks much cleaner. If you run an intake like the PRL, plan on a little trimming.
Wiring notes
- No wiring.
- Mounting: OEM clips plus push clips at the two optional drill points (or drill and clip for the most rigid fit).

0:00What's up guys it's your boy John the day where we're taking a look at some APR goodies.
0:41We have everything bubble wrapped, very fast shipping and yeah it looks like it
0:51Just being a clip it on a will be able to bring out this engine.,.
1:00bling out this engine bay.
1:30and racing for sure., I'm all this because it's
1:45things it's kind of mocked up. a lot of the OEM
1:50spots and also comes with its own the two big thing
1:54is you could drill this hole right here to make it bigger
1:58So you can put some clips in there.
2:04with this side, if you, if you want to drill that hole right there to make it a little bit bigger,
2:09but other than that, we are just gonna put it in. I'm gonna opt for no drilling just because I don't
2:18feel comfortable. I don't think it's necessary to, but if you absolutely want the most rigid
2:26then that's something you should go for. I'm gonna try to find some clips on those very two end
2:31ones that one that one that will hold it down without drilling so we did the
2:37first piece right here you I retained the OEM
2:41clips just for now this is a aftermarket intake so the design
2:47will be a little bit different we'll see if it can fit otherwise, you would have
2:52to maybe shave but it is really good tolerance same right here you can see
2:58the seal right here it's kind of going around but we'll see similar situation
3:06here
3:15now the passenger side pretty easy to use the hud prop same with the other side
3:23side. There's only two clips. We take those two clips out.
3:27Oh, so that kind completes. I had to shave a little a little bit right here because
3:35the hood was hitting just because I have the PRL intake and it kind of
3:40has this fatty part so with it kind of shaped on the bottom you
3:45can't really tell from the bottom. Also instead of
3:50Drilling I use these little clips that you normally find on fenders and
3:56Yeah, what's itsy I really good
3:59, same on this side remember the two things that you're supposed to drill
4:02These one of these pop
4:04fender
4:05Things fender liner clips
4:09Awesome that concludes it that was the APR cooling shroud. It's really nice
4:14It really blings up the engine bay nice carbon hides kind of like the the
4:19the ugliness out here and right here is kind of like the center of it looks really nice.
4:27Other than that, if you have the intake you have to do a little trimming because the pieces
4:32right here kind of flare up to the OEM box but with the PRL, it is really fatty and
4:39bigger so you are going to have to make some adjustments.
4:43I'll leave a link down below if you are interested in' in APR racing.
4:46APR racing is always known about racing and doing high-end things so
5:16I'll see you guys in the next video.
