Overview

Hansshow's Santa Ana service center did this install while John filmed and reviewed it. The truck only has the center screen, and this adds a driver display with CarPlay and Waze. The mount doesn't block the vent.

0:34What's up everybody? We're here at Honcho in Santa Ana. They got a location and install service center

0:40location here in Santa Ana off Warner. We're going to go ahead and have them install our instrument

0:46cluster on our cyber truck because they're, as you know, only one 18 inch screen inside here

0:54here. And then it's a little missing something something right there in front. We'll do a

0:58review once it gets installed, but here we go. This is what Honcho sent us. Over there updates

1:05HD immersive display, customizable UI. I do have a helper here with me today, so you might hear her.

1:14She's eight months, but let's go ahead and see what's going on with Honcho.

1:203, 4, 8, 0, sweet and Warner Avenue. Here are the hours right here. Looks like they got the

1:28new model 3 here. It's got the Honcho front lip. What else can I tell? It looks

1:39like it has the Honcho hubcaps. Very clean, flush. Looks like it has some

1:47carbon fiber camera covers, mud flaps. Oh that's the really nice carbon

1:54fiber side skirt. That's sweet. That's actually a pretty cool about

2:03name location here. Dang this thing's all decked out. You can't tell from far away.

2:10That's the performance badging, too. This is not like the other performance badges.

2:18It has a pretty aggressive diffuser. I don't think this is the performance

2:25version. It's the, we'll call it the Honcho emblem. Okay. And then it looks like it has a

2:33very unique tail light and then a performance style carbon fiber decklid

2:44spoiler. All right, let's take a look inside. Okay, let's see what kind of

2:50of parts they got installed. We got some tail lights. Ah, these are all sweet parts.

3:00If you grew up, if you were in 90s kids, 90s kid like me and you saw all these parts. This

3:04is kind of like what we grew up on Fast and Furious style. Make sure

3:14it's not getting installed yet. Honcho service center, here we go. We got the instrument

3:40air conditioner. So it's not blocking any AC or heat coming out of your way. You've got the wiring

3:45harness. Got some install clips, some zip ties, wiring harness, some computer stuff.

3:59and then we'll walk you through then. So we're out recording Honcho

4:03installing the truck. We're installing the parts of the truck today. So the vent I'm talking

4:12about is right here. So the instrument cluster is going to the vent because I feel the air coming through.

4:26It would be blocking it normally, but not today because there's still a vent coming through the

4:31instrument cluster. That's what you guys are concerned about. Don't you worry. Okay, so the

4:38first thing you do is you're going to go ahead and locate the small plaster piece on the left

4:45and right side of the dashboard right here. This piece right here, we already went ahead and

4:50took off that weather seal. Just going to go ahead and kind of almost rebate them from the instruction

5:33two on the, front, two on the side, and then you've got to kind of head and pull back the

5:40weather stripping a little bit more to access some of the port. Remove the

5:57floor liner to get more access to the carpet. That floor liner just access this hornet here.

6:11And as you could see, there's the mounting clips right here for the dash. Then you go ahead and

6:25grab the harness. We're going to just go ahead and get ready for the harness to run alongside

7:11and the passenger side floor. And when I say we

7:20we're talking about, and you do the same thing on the other. There's the same dash clip.

7:30Seal that. There's a plastic piece on, on the, end of the dashboard out so I try to do this earlier and then

8:03I lost this piece so I said, you know what, I'm gonna just like, on show you still. So here we are.

8:11and we're pulling out the floor liner and running that harness a down. And I'm doing

8:30as we're just kind of watching.

10:13So we're going to pull back the dashboard right now and just click on the bottom. So you just

10:24going to pull back on the bottom and then here

10:34We're going to remove the top of the dashboard so if you're running a harness A alongside it pops up with a bunch of clips.

10:53clips. We use the prying tool to lift it up. So you don't have to take it off. So you

11:02don't have to completely remove. So you don't have to completely remove this dashboard. You just loosen it up.

11:39So this is step 17 on the harness to the, control box. So so once the control

11:47box is.

11:48a you can see, make sure you have the OBi to install on

13:03but it's right there. So, so Hancho just

14:05the welcome screen looks like it warming up how fast it takes to get right away.

14:12Welcome screen is tight. That's a little nice screen to compliment the welcome

14:18screen of the Cybertruck. Let's see what's going on here. So we have the Apple

14:25CarPlay Android Auto 2 and you can see right here it does. The steering wheel

14:34does. Kind of

14:42of the way of the screen a little bit but not too much and now we have finally a secondary screen what happens with the Cybertruck is a lot of times with parking structures and parking lots I end up having this camera on quite frequently because what happens is the front end is

14:55hard to guide. I mean driving through a parking lot so I use this front public camera quite a bit that cuts into the maps now with this instruments cluster from Hancho that leabates that issue. What we

15:12have here is your classic Apple CarPlay native apps your phone music your text

15:20messages it will read all your text messages you guys probably know what Apple

15:23CarPlay is already. You can kind of see how it operates in the Hancho app. What I

15:33love about this is the go-to would-be Waze. That's the only app that's

15:40missing from the native Tesla UI and Waze is a game-changer alert to all

15:48the crashes the police the obstructed hazards when I'm driving down I've

15:54already done it, all you do is press this bottom right hand corner and then

15:59you just type what you see and then

16:01then it alerts other Waze users. This, well you can have the speed limit on Waze too

16:07so you end up using this as I end up using this as my native screen. I don't

16:12put the speedometer up here or the speed limit it's already on the

16:16Tesla display I don't really need it to be redundant. Also I use Spotify quite

16:24sometime you'll see a little bit it might be a little bit easier to navigate

16:29see how quick this is. What's cool about this screen too is I don't know if I

16:36mentioned it earlier but there's a big vent on the bottom of this and then yous

16:42could really feel the heat or the cool air from behind the screen splash up towards you

16:48which is a good feature I don't feel like any of my airs being blocked on a

16:52hot or cold morning on a hot day or cold morning and then here we go and you

17:00could either play Spotify through the speaker this thing has speakers so if

17:04you want to just play your text messages through the speaker and you don't want to

17:07to have to bother the entire your all your passengers of all your text messages

17:13that's kind of a good feature too sometimes it's kind of too much you

17:18don't really need all your friends hearing about your text messages so

17:21that's also a plus as I'm playing Spotify through my UI you kind of

17:30see that it's playing the yoke lows right now you can see the small album art

17:34here you have the bigger album art it's connected through the Spotify app so it's

17:41playing what I'm playing through the Tesla UI and it's just playing on the

17:46honcho UI so everything's connected everything's integrated well and then

17:52if you don't like Apple car play and if you just want to use the

17:57on show UI this home screen on the honcho UI it'll do stuff like if your doors

18:04are open it'll display that the doors are open it doesn't do windows down doesn't

18:11have that Easter egg where you press it on the Tesla UI and it breaks the

18:16glass it doesn't do the tonal cover and it doesn't do the

18:27cameras

18:27which you a.

18:49On your cell phone and turn on the hotspot you set up your hot

18:53in the car you put that password in for hot-spot and it'll automatically connect

18:59and download the update right now when I do that I

19:05actually tell you if it's downloading anything so you're kind of in the

19:08blind afterwards' afterwards a honcho if you're listening if you want to

19:12display like a progress bar or say

19:12your software versions come up to date then that'd be good for the user instead of

19:16having to look it

19:21online and comparing it to your update version these are all the settings to

19:28kind of adjust it to your liking time zones brightness you could change the

19:35day and night mode right here make it automatic you have two UI themes or

19:41three UI themes we'll start with one and let me go ahead and put it in drive with

19:50the UI one and then you could see the difference here UI ones cool you

19:57got the spedom when you're an autopilot this doesn't actually show you any

20:03autopilot features will show the car going it'll show when you hit the

20:06brakes you see how the brake lights actually pretty cool because I wish my

20:12brake lights lit up like that instead of the the two square two tiny squares and

20:44that's UI one and let's go over

20:55we're in drive right now so let's put it in park that's the only way to mess with

21:00settings let's go over UI to put it in it back and drive back and drive nothing

21:18yet see if I have this right UI to return okay UI to you have the car in the

21:31middle you have now a digital speedometer instead of the analog digital combo and

21:37then you have the Apple car play on the side you press that and then I'll get

21:41you the car play let's go ahead and put in park and test out UI 3 UI 3 I think

21:46it's my favorite because it has a horsepower gauge so on the left side you see

21:54the speedometer with the needle and then it's digital speedometer in the middle

21:59you see the Cybertruck and then you could scroll left to to hit the Apple

22:04car play to switch if you need to use any of those apps while driving or

22:08you just leave it like this and then on the right side you have the

22:12horsepower meter which is cool because instead of a tachometer I mean nobody

22:20really dry stick anymore but most cars still or some cars still have a tachometer

22:24so you know how to shift you don't red line the car this one's cool because it

22:30it's saying that I have 520 horsepower which is probably correct and it's

22:35live so let's get going so I'm rolling on my

22:39driver right now and then I'll punch it a little bit and you could actually feel

22:51at being accurate it's live it's connected to your to your Tesla so it's all live

23:03it's all giving you the live information you can see the Cybertruck rolling it

23:07shows you which gear you're in which is good I think the gear in Cybertruck

23:16is a little too small it's this top left hand corner this one's right in your face and you

23:23could kind of see here that's pretty much how much display I'm seeing you

23:29could adjust your steering wheel but you're always going to cut into the on display a

23:33little bit it's just kind of like most cars with the round steering wheel

23:41especially if you leave your hand on the total clock with the Cybertruck you

23:44not really leaving your hand on the total clock position because of the

23:48steering wheel and you're not having a grasp so much of it to kind of go hand

23:54over hand in turn especially for you turns so I was gonna do a video of an

24:04install but it was a little time-consuming I wouldn't say it's too

24:10complicated the install for this dash I tried to attempt myself but what ended up

24:17happening is I usually I don't know if you pay attention but usually I only have

24:21one hand I have my kid with me most of the time and then the great thing about

24:29Teslas is being held on my clips 90% of its clips plastic clips but that's

24:36also a disadvantage because if you don't take your time with it or you don't

24:42know how the clips are oriented it's very easy to break the clips and the

24:47Cybertruck what I've been loving about it is it's been rattle-free so I was

24:53has intent to take apart my door panels and my dash and some my floor liner to

25:00install this screen except it's so worth it now it's so worth it now I have an

25:11autopilot right now and you could see that the Cybertruck in the middle didn't

25:17appear so like a blue guideline to let you know that you're

25:20an autopilot now I could leave the autopilot visual visualizations on so I

25:29don't have to worry about it seeing not seeing what I don't think you can see

25:36so this gives me the confidence and the peace of mind to let me know that the

25:41the Cybertruck is gonna drive on full self driving like it's supposed to but

25:46the problem with this is now my maps are

25:47tiny I do have some directions up there but that's tiny too so now with this

25:55secondary screen which it should have already came with but Hancho hooked it

26:00up saw a piece that Tesla was missing and installed it it's a super clean

26:05look it looks native everybody that goes in the car thinks that it came with

26:11the car it does not look it does not look like a aftermarket solution and then go

26:18ahead and put this thing on Waze and then that's how I normally drive so I was

26:26gonna do an install video on this Hancho instrument cluster but I ended up

26:32aborting that right away cuz I was just like well you know what the Hancho

26:37there's a service center there's an install center right next to me in

26:41Santa Anna so I cruise on by and they were very helpful as a clean studio so

26:48I'm you already saw the video I'm gonna do a service center experience and a

26:58instrument cluster review instead so anyways there's a detailed video of

27:05the installation processed with Hancho already so no need to do no need to

27:10replicate greatness already on shows already doing it I'll attach a link in

27:15the description below of the of the install process that Hancho already has

27:24but my thoughts on the Hancho service center are amazing those guys are great

27:31theys service they have multiple texts and a admin staff there when I was

27:38there so they have three people pumping they have lots of people come in

27:41make sure you call set-up an appointment beforehand because they do you get

27:45busy there's a lot of people walking in and asking for service on what they

27:53think is small issues but that really ties up the text because they end up

27:57having a break away from their appointments to help the customers

28:02with their small issues with what they have going on with their products

28:07but then I mean it ends up being very simple information simple instructions

28:13solutions that they could have gathered just emailing Hancho but anyways the

28:19service center is very clean the text are friendly I would use them again no

28:27doubt they know what they're doing they're doing these cars inside and

28:31out they know it like the back of their hands they know their products

28:34they'll stand by their warranty so definitely check them out if you think

28:39that a job is a little bit bigger than a DIY or if you just simply don't have the

28:46time to spend this ended up being like an hour and a half for them to install so

28:51if you don't have the time to do it you can swing on by there there's not

28:56much to do at at that service center they do have a lobby and a cake-up

29:01machine and they've got some videos going at TV to give you the remote so you can

29:08dispensary there I know most of us don't go to the dispensary but I mean

29:14if that's your thing or it's a really cool dispensary it's called Planet 13 there's

29:17only a couple in the US so it's in the same parking lot so I walked over and it's

29:26kind it's kind of a cool vibe there if you want to just kind of walk around and

29:30destroy some time while they install your products but we got full self-driving on

29:38with the on ramp merging in you can see right here that I can still see 90

29:47percent of the UI it's really gives me peace of mind now especially with like all

29:54this stuff I'm hitting on the 405 and the crashes I go to especially at night I

29:59do half my driving at night and obviously the visibility is a concern so now I have some

30:07crowdsourced information when there are some obstructions or hazards on the

30:13roadway ways is there surprise Tesla still haven't has it come up with ways it's

30:18with all these speed cameras and red light cameras which I know Google Maps has

30:22the red light cameras but I don't think they have the speed cameras yet, but with

30:27ways you get alerted to all this stuff traffic police crash hazard block lane

30:33bad weather while so self-driving alerting me I pay attention to the

30:40road but anyways so here I think I have it set up with let's turn on the audio so

30:52if I hit the text messages they'll read it to you here so shown that there's a

31:09road closure right here anyways yeah my experience with the poncho service

31:16service team is amazing they great use them don't use them it's up to you

31:21but they're in Santa Ana Orange County so Cal the

31:28the UI is great if you're on the fence about it I mean I'd say definitely it's an A

31:32come up it's a net positive and then makes it work spirits quite better and

31:41this is like this is version zero this is v0 for this honcho UI it's only

31:47gonna get better from here hopefully they keep on tackling away with and adding

31:51some more features to it what I would love for it is if Tesla goes unsupervised where

31:59you don't have to monitor the driving of the car you could just watch videos on

32:06the honcho UI but I mean by then test those probably just gonna integrate it

32:10into their UI but I mean this one show is to hook it up and some video

32:15features on the on their app it doesn't have to be through Apple car

32:19play you know they want it might not be the most legal thing but let's just say

32:24if you're driving off-road because on a pilot can be off-road go ahead and throw

32:31some YouTube and Netflix on this UI so while I'm off-road I could be watching

32:37some videos and still be monitoring my off-road driving but yeah this UI is

32:47amazing what else can I say about this I don't really use too many features

32:51of it Spotify it could play through the speakers or it could play through the

32:57ends up being like cell phone speakers that you're hearing there's a USB port

33:02USB-C port on the back of this screen except I tried to plug my phone into it

33:08it neither powered my phone or allowed any data ability to the screen so I

33:16was, hoping that my phone could connect some features to it directly but it's all

33:23wireless with your Apple car play in my previous cars when you use it your

33:32phone heats up quite a bit in my experience it does that with here too it

33:37doesn't heat it up as much as my Chrysler Pacifico that I had so any

33:42you-connect system if you're using it now, your phone will not be as hot as that

33:50and then if you use your wireless phone charger while using Apple car play it

33:57still charges it net positive it obviously charges slower but it'll still

34:03charge it if that's what your concern is if you're on a trip and then you

34:09don't want to drain your battery or overheat your battery I haven't had my

34:12phone overheated but I've only been using it for about a week while charging

34:17and using the car play but that might be a possibility and then here we have it

34:25with the horsepower and the Android Auto, there you go, you can use some setup screen

34:33while driving, there you go, so with the UI3 you could set it up while driving

34:41go into the settings menu so okay I didn't notice that so when you're an

34:48autopilot the horsepower gauge does not not read so I'm gonna get it off autopilot

34:54now and it automatically gives you how much horsepower your car is putting now

35:01let's give it a little buck real quick make sure there's no one in front of us

35:05if you go 520 just like that with the wide-open throttle I don't know if you guys

35:11caught that but anyways thank you honcho for working out with such a cool

35:14product should have been native in the Cybertruck to begin with

35:18I've always been a proponent of a dual screen I the single screen is

35:26already very functional but the dual screens even better

35:31like the Model X anyways thanks honcho use their searcher if you're a local or if

35:37you're willing to make the drive it's worth it and then get this UI get this screen

35:43it's kind of keep getting better
