0:07What's up everybody, I got the honcho running boards installed on the cyber truck
0:25looking minty
0:28really cool design
0:31Keeping a theme with the cyber truck logo the triangles the first thing I only installed the right side so far the left side
0:38With you guys just so you can get an idea how easy it is to install the first thing I did was
0:44Go on extract mode
0:47And or off-road mode and hit up extract
0:51So then that way we have plenty of room to work with
0:55The running boards are great
0:58Cyber truck does come with auto suspension. So what happens is when you put in the park?
1:02The suspension does drop down lower. So shorter people come in but even with auto suspension
1:16anyone
1:16For them also a great thing about this is if you look on the other side
1:21The running boards not only make it easier for you to come in that of it does offer the element of protection for your car
1:30If you see here already got a little bit of road rash from just everyday wear and tear
1:36What ends up happening is this mudflap this faring valence
1:41If it gets struck when you're off-roading or at night it comes off really easy
1:45So it'll be a nice little the warning
1:49Once you start hearing things hitting that metal running board, which is in
1:54will be kind of your first sign of warning
1:59nicely coated
2:02Kind of like a bed liner material
2:04so another
2:06Pro for me personally besides my family getting out in an it easier is now when I wash the car
2:11I just could just go ahead and step on this and get up and access the roof a lot easier. Hey, how's gone
2:20so
2:21Here we have it installed on this side and it will take you through the steps to have it installed on the side
2:27If you want to just take a quick look at how it is installed
2:31Just know drilling just direct bolt on
2:35repoints the contact
2:37simple
2:38so we'll go ahead and
2:40try to breeze by
2:43Install on the side
2:44Let me take off the camera. I already have everything kind of
2:54Pre-flight in four brackets
2:58Spacer
3:0013 10 millimeter the first thing you do is
3:05You take off off four existing bolts
3:11If you want to take a look
3:14there's these
3:16there's actually
3:17Six of them, but you just take the four that's located on the center
3:22So I'll go ahead and start
3:28You end up not using them again, so
3:34Set it off to the side
3:38So these bolts are the ones that are going to need the spacers
3:44I don't know if you could see with the angle, but this plastic does get really beat up
4:07So we we took off those four bolts
4:09What we do next is these are labeled all four left side are for right side
4:16It's a little counterintuitive because the lower numbers in the front and the higher numbers in the back
4:21so four three two one L four L three L two oh one and
4:25What you do is
4:27It's kind of three points, so contact that meet the the bottom of the car and then the running board goes on top here
4:45so
4:47The spacer
4:52Goes in this hole
4:54So you could just go ahead and put the spacer in first
5:00And then you can the hand tighten
5:03The 10 millimeter
5:06So this is the 10 millimeter that honcho gives you
5:10That you removed from the from tesla
5:14Story of my life can't find a hole
5:31Just got kind of feel around for it. All right. There we go
5:43And then the 13 goes in a existing hole
5:48That you didn't have to unscrew anything for
5:50and then that first and
5:55Then I'm using this
5:59Kind of tighten it. I'll go back and
6:02Tighten it all the way with an actual ratchet
6:05But that way we're kind of guided in and then the 13
6:11I'm just going to use a hand ratchet
6:14So that's the first bracket
6:17Second bracket L three
6:20Same thing we're going to go ahead and put the spacer in here and 10 millimeter
6:34goes
6:35washer
6:37Crush washer and then the bolt
6:41You almost can't
6:45put the wrong washer with the wrong bolt because
6:48Thickness of the washer or the bolt won't all out
6:53The smaller washer to get in
6:55Honcho kind of makes it dummy proof
6:58Which is good because I'm a dummy meter tighten
7:4313 millimeter with the ratchet. So this is L3 which is a
7:48Second bracket on the driver sign
7:52Working our way from front to back
8:02L2
8:05now the you can see that
8:08Brackets are all put in one direction, which will make it a little bit easier to install
8:13Spacer goes in first where the pre-existing hole was
8:17And tighten the 10 millimeter
8:24Line up the 13 mil 13 millimeter goes in washer crush washer and then the bolt
8:38There's like a lot of wiggle room that you could kind of adjust
8:43Or if you could see like I can still wiggle it quite a bit
8:48Which allows for
8:51Kind of adjustability when you do end up
8:55Putting your running board on if you want to have it poke out
9:00Have it more flush to the car
9:03Poking out some advantages would be you could actually use the running board to
9:08Sit on put on snowboard put on your gears
9:12Snowboard boots if you want it more, flash shell to me will be a cleaner look
9:22So it's up to you both ways
9:31Can't go wrong kind of customize it to your style
9:34And then if you're kind of worried about this putting pressure on
9:41The battery pack you could see here. It says lift point
9:46So it's designed for a little bit of
9:54There's it's not labeled left or right you just
10:01Just rest it on top. I
10:03Would like to have it a little bit just closer to this fairing
10:08So I could reach the items in the back a little bit more. I
10:11Don't really need it to be sticking too far out to the front tire because they're out
10:17Load up too many things there and then you grab these four brackets
10:21and these brackets kind of rests
10:25Inside the running board down and then you tighten up
10:30And then you tighten up the
10:35bolts that way
10:37When you are putting these
10:41Metal brackets inside the running board you just kind of kind of watch where it doesn't hit
10:56Because there is not that much clearance
10:59So it goes washer
11:03Fresh washer and they're not I'm just going to hand tighten these now and they'll come back and
11:17Tighten them up with the ratchet after
11:21Reason being is
11:24It will allow me to kind of shift the running board around
11:27And kind of have it the way I want it
11:35So that was the first bracket
11:38Hand tighten
11:40So each of the brackets are going to
11:44Original L1 L2 L3 L
12:40For you just to put the brackets in first and then tighten them up so you can lift
12:48Running board up and have the threads the studs kind of
12:55Fall into place where you need it
12:58So that was another advantage of
13:03Not tightening those bolts all the way all right, cool. So our ones all the way in
13:19Toes all the
13:28Nuts to the
13:31Bracket washer crush washer nut
13:36You don't have to
13:37Hold the other end of the bracket the top end because it is welded shut
13:45So when you do tighten these up with a ratchet
13:50The nice thing is you
13:53only have to use one ratchet. You're not trying to
13:57You don't need to grab a wrench on the other side to keep it in place
14:02two of each two washers two nuts two crush washers on
14:10each
14:11One of these brackets washer first
14:20Then crush washer spe on
14:23The nut washer
14:32Crush washer nut and tighten
14:40Got two more sets one more set two more
14:44I'll
14:47Drill cuz I am gonna forget and then drop the car
14:50My drill
14:54Washer and if you're having a hard time putting these nuts in
15:06On one side you could just tighten it up with the ratchet and
15:11Then that would give you a little bit more threads
15:14On the stud to work with I wish I didn't say that because now
15:22Now it feels like there's not enough on this side
15:24There you go, or you could just put a little bit more pressure down and that way you have a little bit more of the
15:40Threads to work with on the stud on the
15:46bolt to attach the nut as I'm dropping everything
15:51I think it really gauged this properly. I'm supposed to be picking up my kid right now. So
15:58Rushing a little bit more last thing you want to do is
16:21strip these nuts
16:25bolts so just gonna go ahead and
16:28Try this other side this other side looks like I have a little bit more room
16:34A little bit with the ratchet so I get a little bit more space a little bit more
16:40Shaft to work. With
16:42Sometimes you just got to work with a stubby shaft
16:46and then
16:48Have a technique and then everyone's happy anyways. I didn't tighten it up yet
16:56So now I'm gonna go ahead engage. I don't want this to be touching the faring
17:02So I'm gonna push it out a little bit I
17:05Personally like it more flush. I don't like poke
17:08So I'm gonna push that in
17:11Okay, cool not touching the faring
17:14coming on in and
17:16Then tightening up the bolts. This is L1. This is L1 bracket
17:34And they obviously come in because I had the 10 millimeter just cordless drill
17:41not impact drill so
17:43Doesn't give you that much torque. It doesn't tighten it up very properly. So you're gonna come in with a
17:49Ratchet and hit it up. You should just
17:54Really drive with it for a few days and then
17:58Come back
17:59and tighten up all the bolts anyway
18:18Get up that one
18:20This is L3 which is this second bracket from the front on
18:30Get that a little tight and then hit up the other side evenly torque the brackets down
18:50driver side front
18:53bracket
18:55Tighten the two 13 millimeters. This is the 10
19:11There's the pin cool. And then there we have it and then gonna pick up the
19:27Kitto there we have it. All right, here we go install. Just got it cleaned up. There you go
19:28We got the running boards installed. They call them the 2.0's. I like the design much better
19:35I슷 on this new variant
19:38Spell really well
19:47I donf you hear that
19:49It's like a rough sandpaper material. So you're not gonna
19:54Worry about it. I think it is steel and it's coated in something. I think they call it zinc
19:59so
20:01You're not going to have to worry about your kids or anybody slipping on this stuff. It's really resilient
20:06And if you know if you want to build a table and you need to smooth out some wood
20:10Wood and you got no sandpaper here you go
20:13And if you want you know if you got a block of cheese and you need to grate it
20:17With some Cybertruck shredded-cheese style. You got that too
20:23Because you could see here it's a really offering protection that I should have used because there's some
20:30little light scratches from everyday use on the plastic already
20:33I think this is entry mode. It looks like it's just laying on the ground, which I love
20:41Super easy to get an add-oh
20:46You're no longer stepping on any of this stuff
20:51to get in the car and
20:54Then what happens to is I'm 510
20:57as I end up sitting on the side bolster to get out without the running
21:02boards because
21:04That's what you got to do is to step out without falling
21:09You kind of put your legs right here and you get out, but now the running boards you could just kind of
21:15Walk out without putting too much weight on that side bolster. So it's gonna give you a little bit more even wear
21:20and another advantage too is
21:28You could I think you could access so I have some of my boxes and my
21:35cover right there
21:38And I'm thinking
21:41Now that you could step on the
21:43Running boards you could have access to your
21:47Basecamp better
21:49So you don't have to worry about giving a ladder or stepping on the tire and falling off
21:56Obviously you have better access to the roof rack
22:00Which point cleaning the window I did wash the car just late last night just a quick wash in I
22:07could almost get to the middle but
22:10still need to kind of
22:12Step on the the door sills to get full access. So you end up
22:18Stepping right there and stepping up there. Let me see if I could give my
22:25German Shepherd her name's Ellie out here. Ellie come out here
22:30Ellie
22:32Come good girl
22:34So she's about 65 pounds
22:37German Shepherd she
22:44Good sit
22:45So she's been hit before so we hate to give her more pressure on her paws and her joints wouldn't necessary
22:52So let's see if she actually uses this running board
22:56Ellie up up good girl. Come
22:59Okay, well, she doesn't really use the running board
23:03But it's there she needs it. Let's see if she uses it on the way down
23:07Ellie down
23:09L a off
23:11Yeah, she doesn't really need to use it
23:14There she needs it see if she uses it on the front end so on long road trips
23:21My full my back seats full and Ellie usually sits up front with me
23:26So let's go see how she gets up here. Ellie up
23:29Ellie get up. Good girl. Okay, so she uses a running board on her, her way up to the front seat
23:37so normally we have her in the back here and
23:42And
23:44What's great about the Cybertruck is there's so many little
23:48Elk track hook points
23:49So we hook her up to the back when we go to the beach and went not short trips
23:53But for longer trips, she sits up for road trips. She sits up right front with me
23:58I put like a little cooler on the floorboard and she
24:01Could stretch out a little bit a little bit on her the right front seat
24:04All right good girl Ellie. Let's go
25:02So
25:04It helps pull really well when you step on it. There's no flex
25:13No concern with the weight that this thing is gonna get
25:18The comment of I hear of the running boards is you get you do lose a little bit of ground clearance
25:24But if you could see like this fairing
25:27It sits lower than the running board. So that's kind of a
25:32But
25:33The Cybertruck
25:35It doesn't even come with any battery protection right now. So this is like your first
25:41Warning for your battery protection if you do that'll do a little bit of off-roading
25:45So scratch up the bottom of the running board to kind of warn you ahead of time before you scratch up your expensive battery pack
25:52So that's always a plus
25:54Thanks honcho
